Protesters on the shore of Resurrection Bay in Seward, Alaska, Sept. 1, 2015, as President Obama passes by on a water tour highlight what they see as the President’s deeply hypocritical move to come to their state to stress the urgent need to take action on climate change immediately after he gave Shell approval to drill in the Arctic Ocean. Solidarity rallies in Seattle and Portland, site of two major protests against Shell’s Arctic drilling, will be ongoing throughout the day as well. Photo by Mark Meyer
As the temperature started to hit around 35 degrees Celcius, standing out in a hot crowd for hours started to take its toll. Luckily, there were plenty of hoses to distribute cooling water, as well as locals throwing buckets of water from their windows and roofs.
An exclusive holiday boutique is wrapping up its limited run today at Perkins Elementary where the PTA sponsored a shop that offered students a convenient and affordable opportunity to buy gifts for their families, friends and maybe even a teacher or two during the last week of classes before Winter Break.
As holiday traditions go this one’s a real keeper.
Class by class, everyone gets to shop. Forgot your money? Your credit’s good with the Penguin PTA which is happy to issue a couple of “Perkins Bucks” so no one goes home empty-handed.

The infamous multi storey car park in Gateshead used as a location in Get Carter. Plans for demolition have allready been drawn
my love is getting extinguish
everyday I see no change,
just shadows all around me
for years, I have seek around
always looking in the wrong
places and the wrong times.
there is no light at the end of this
tunnel, just more darkness,
loneliness that feeling of
emptiness,
for once I wish I could feel
like a man.
Everything that I am,everything
that I know is useless on these
times, perhaps I belong to an
other time
or maybe I just don't belong
but even demons can love and
every now and then I open
whats left of my broken heart.
Is easy to love, but be loved
now that's a challenge
and even when I have eyes
only for that one fallen angel
she will never have eyes for me
I know that, I accept that.
Sometimes wishing that she
have never came to my live
So I could be spare the pain
of not been able to touch her
to love her, to be love by her
so the fire of my heart is been
extinguish every day with out hope.

Letter to the Editor:
Old habits are hard to get rid of
I was shocked and some what distraught, after I decided to experience the reading of HJW III editorial concerning the Columbia Police Citizen Oversight Board.
I must admit it’s a good start, because it can mirror our judicial system, which has the ultimate authority and methodology to stop abuse of authority, pertaining to our public officials and officers.
A well crafted over sight process that excludes any citizen, based on belief and or opinion, rather than facts and truths , suggest fixed development and stagnation.
An age old historical pattern and practice of the non progressive majority to exclude and or discriminate, through political propaganda, to keep disenfranchised people out of the full spectrum of our political process.
However, I have no confidence in three of the appointed members, Elbert, Smith and Williams, based on factual reasons and my experiences. Can all three effectually execute the process without conflict of interest? No! Have they attempted to resolve any of my many complaints, beginning in 2002 to the present? No! Should we allow proxy negotiations? No!
Dr. King warned of and had to overcome this very similar event and or experience of classism, when he wished to share himself with others, while in the Birmingham jail.
The main goals of any group effort to correct injustice and the abuse of authority, must contain those who are directly affected and those who have filed complaints, alleging police misconduct. Another key element is it must contain those who have filed criminal and civil appeals, that have been denied by the higher courts, to affirm the obstruction of justice. Boone County Justice System performs legalized lynching, by applying suppression of exculpatory evidence, from most juries as a key element for consideration of innocence, while using theories and some science coupled with their beliefs and opinions to obtain convictions.
Its kind of sad that Hank and Mayor Hindman haven’t progressed in extending and perpetuating opportunities equally for all, as the rest of the progressive majority has endeavored to do so. Thanks to radical journalist we have freedom of the press! Thanks to the progressive majority for allowing me to exercise my freedom of speech. For some old habits aren’t hard to overcome.
Respectfully,
Marlon L. Jordan

Montrealers have been spellbound by the mechanical displays in Ogilvy’s department store window every Christmastime since 1947. The Bavarian scenes, custom made by the German toy manufacturer Steiff, feature dozens of handcrafted animals working and playing. Similar to those of department stores in other parts of the world, like Macy’s in New York or the Galeries Lafayette in Paris, these window displays are among the last of their kind in North America.

Day for getting our Jasmin Bush from Skender at his wilderness site out on the edge of Livno town, we started gently with a few minutes out by the Frog river and ate some Cevapi then went to Skenders place on the road to Kupres about 3-miles 5-kilometres south of Livno where we handed him a small box of biscuits and some de-caf coffee in exchange for a well established Jasmin bush which he had promised us in the summer, the bush took a few moments (1 hour ha ha ) to liberate and we then shared a few drinks with Skender I ate all his Bananas and looked at the Bee-hives while Bisera took some Herbs and medicinal plants from his cold frames - it was a beautiful day sunny and the colours of the trees in their autumnal phase was staggering - I hope I convey that with these 57 odd pictures
Ja Volim Livno..!
