Scenes like this make my heart race... Taken just a few minutes before sunrise on Rough Ridge. You can see just a bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway there on the right...
Fuji X-E3 plus Samyang tele lens (fixed at F6.3). This mirror reflex lens has something in common with the Hubble and the James-Webb Space Telescopes, at least the basic mirror technology. Whereas these space telescopes have a fabulous resolution, the same can not be said of this lens. Still, the images produced with this lens can be satisfying (as long as magnification is not expected).
Am Basteir Summit 934m
Am Basteir is a vertically-sided blade of rock whose ascent is only possible for keen scramblers from Bealach a Basteir. Below the summit of the mountain is the remarkable lesser peak of the Basteir Tooth - an imposing fang of rock that can only be reached by rock-climbers.
The Black Cuillin are the most spectacular and challenging mountains in Britain. These are peaks of which dreams are made - and nightmares! Many of their summits require scrambling or even rock-climbing to reach.

So I took this one in December last year but its taken me ages to get around to getting it edited and finally uploaded. I've still got thousands of photos from the last few years to go through and hopefully I'll start to make a dent on them before long, but am sure I've thought that a few times before and I've still got a massive backlog ;)

A little westie getting a drink from a water spigot as a schnauzer puppy waits his turn.
Prompt: Ultra-realistic digital fine art illustration of a heartwarming garden scene. A fluffy West Highland White Terrier puppy and a playful Salt and Pepper Schnauzer puppy sit together near an old-fashioned water spigot attached to a brick wall. A small wooden bucket sits below, overflowing slightly as water pours from the tap. The Westie puppy eagerly laps at the falling stream of water, while the Schnauzer puppy curiously leans in, watching with bright, expressive eyes. Surrounding them are wildflowers and soft greenery bathed in golden sunlight. The walkway path glistens with splashes of water, adding realism and charm.

A weekend get-a-way with friends let us to a Autumn adventure of Upper Peninsula in Michigan. There are over 10 wonderful waterfalls to seek out. For this trip we captured 3. The crowds of people was vast due to the warm temperatures and Peak Colors. Getting a change to get a photo meant waiting your turn. I'm sure I was not a favorite of many taking long exposure images...I can't wait to go back with less people!
The falls drops about 50 feet (15 m) over a sandstone cliff. With the exception of the spring thaw, the amount of water falling is relatively small. There are trails leading to multiple viewpoints around the falls.
Prickly pear cactus are hard to identify even while blooming, but I have taken pictures of this plant while blooming. My best guess is Texas prickly pear (Opuntia engelmannii var. lindheimeri).
My objective here was to get the points in tack sharp focus and have enough depth of field have the glochidia sharp with the texture of the pad.

Sometimes, all that is needed to be noticed, is to reach a little higher, be a little hungrier, work a little harder than the crowd.

A couple of family members who have difficulty getting about experiencing for the first time freedom that can be had with a mobility scooter
I followed the rockus, cackling, laughter of this Jay to this to a group of oak trees where he was picking acorns and pecking them open to get to the seed inside. It was a fairly dense, knot of trees and so I had to work my way into a position that I could get a clear shot of him. I finally got a sequence of shots there he was mostly clear of all branches in the foreground.. Here he was posing for me, showing off the beautiful blue colors and patterns on his back. I just wish he wasn't so backlit, though the light was being filtered by the other trees and leaves. Just not the most ideal spot, but I'll take what I can get at this point!
These birds are pretty skittish in this area. They see people walking the paths around the lake, but I doubt they even venture into the woods this far. I kept my distance and didn't make any aggressive moves unless he flew off to another tree to smash the acorn. Then he would come back. I would take those moments to move into a better position. I wish I had brought my mesh head/lens cover to help camouflage my face and that large white L lens. I think I understand now why so many wildlife photographers put camo covers on their white lenses. I need to look into that.
Sometimes the conditions we deal with no matter how tough or easy doesn't matter much in the end. What really matters it seems is "Did You Get" what you wanted or did you get what you needed.
