Devil's Fork Loop Trail, Fort Blackmore, Virginia.

"The Devil's Fork Loop Trail provides an impressively beautiful route through an old-growth hemlock and rhododendron forest. Amazing rock formations, waterfalls, swimming holes and mountain views give you plenty to see and do, but keep one eye on the trail, as the going can be rough. Although the trail follows yellow blazes for its entire 7 miles, poor maintenance means it is often difficult to find the blazes and the path, which, in several places, scrambles over large rocks or up very steep cliff faces." A clear spring evening along the Oregon coast at Cannon Beach

Tide receding quickly at Hopewell Rocks Park, Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick.

The Hopewell Rocks, also called the Flowerpots Rocks or simply The Rocks, are rock formations caused by tidal erosion in The Hopewell Rocks Ocean Tidal Exploration Site in New Brunswick. They stand 40–70 feet tall.

They are located on the shores of the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy at Hopewell Cape near the end of a series of Fundy coastal tourism hubs including Fundy National Park and the Fundy Trail. Due to the extreme tidal range of the Bay of Fundy, the base of the formations are covered in water twice a day. However, it is possible to view the formations from ground level at low tide.

The formations consist of dark sedimentary conglomerate and sandstone rock. The large volume of water flowing in to and out of the Bay of Fundy modifies the landscape surrounding it. After the retreat of the glaciers in the region following the last ice age, surface water filtering through cracks in the cliff has eroded and separated the formations from the rest of the cliff face. Meanwhile, advancing and retreating tides and the associated waves have eroded the base of the rocks at a faster rate than the tops, resulting in their unusual shapes. (Wikipedia.)

What a surprise show tonight!

I got lucky traveling through Vincentown at a spot I've shot from before with good luck and I got to watch as this line of storms that had been kind of parked west of the city finally started to move out as the sun went down. There was so much lightning in this line, it was like a disco. First, C2C was only visible by the brightness in the sky but as this moved in, it started jumping out of the clouds every second. This thing had structure, presenting both a decent shelf cloud and a well formed wall cloud, and so, so, so much lightning.

Fall is here...Love this time of year!

Happy New Year 2023! Just another landscape filled with eye coating color.

I know I have been gone for a while. I am still kicking! I just got really burnt out on trying to be a money-making photographer by doing portraits. Then I moved from Colorado to Utah and just couldn't get it off the ground the same way. I was frustrated with probably a little depression as well and decided to take a sabbatical. A nice break is what I need after being a photographer for almost 30 years. I am older now and still in good health so don't worry if you think I vanished. I am around and you can find me on Instagram as well. I also took up golf, so that has been a fun adventure. I actually haven't picked up my camera in over 2 years. I am entering the water slowly and who knows where it will lead this time. I just am going to focus on my fun and enjoyment instead of trying to be a full-time professional photographer. It's time to do it for myself and my experience and peace.

Thanks to all my photographer friends that I have made in my journey, you are an encouragement.

Happy new year to you all 2023!

Derek

Bushkill Falls is a series of eight privately owned waterfalls, the tallest of which cascades over 100 feet (30 m), located in Lehman Township, Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains. Water of the Little Bush Kill and Pond Run Creek descends the mountain, toward the Delaware River, forming Bushkill Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Bridesmaid Falls, Laurel Glen Falls, Pennell Falls, and three additional, unnamed falls.

Bushkill Falls is a popular spot for hiking and bird-watching. The area features a variety of trails and bridges that vary in length and difficulty.

Bushkill Falls is nicknamed "Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania." It was opened to the public in 1904 by Charles E. Peters, and is still owned by the Peters family.

There is an admission fee for the park of $17.50 for adults per day, $13.50 for seniors per day, and $8.50 for children ages 4–10 per day.

The main falls, named Bushkill Falls, and the main canyon area are accessible via boardwalk and stairs. Outside of the main canyon area the trails are mostly dirt and stone, with boardwalks and bridges in certain areas.

On August 13, 2011, one person died after falling 150 feet (46 m) into the falls. Two teenage boys walked off marked trails and one of the boys lost his footing and fell into the falls. He was pronounced dead on the scene (Wikipedia).

Storm chase in Salem County, NJ

It is not the first time I captured this fallen tree in lake Bruchtalsee but it is the first time in black and white. The water isn't that smooth every day, which allows to gain that look and the reflections of the reed.

Hiking with Court, Amy, Amber and Libby. Beautiful day!

Nikon d5000 with Nikkor 18-106

Early morning at Shore Acres State Park in Coos Bay, Oregon. 4 minute exposure.

A five-frame panorama from the hotel room, overlooking the hotel's citrus grove and the Sorrento skyline. In the distance are the Gulf of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, Monte Sant'Agnelo and the Lattari Mountains.

"Sorrento is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. A popular tourist destination, Sorrento is located on the Sorrentine Peninsula at the south-eastern terminus of the Circumvesuviana rail line, within easy access from Naples and Pompeii. The town is widely known for its small ceramics, lacework and marquetry (woodwork) shops.

The Sorrentine Peninsula has views of Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri. The Amalfi Drive, connecting Sorrento and Amalfi, is a narrow road along the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Ferries and hydrofoils connect the town to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia.

Limoncello, a digestive made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar, is produced in Sorrento along with citrus fruit, wine, nuts and olives.

Sorrento experiences a Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification Csa) with mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers. The mild climate and fertility of the Gulf of Naples made the region famous during Roman times, when emperors such as Claudius and Tiberius holidayed nearby. Temperatures can get as high as 29 °C (84 °F) in April, as happened in 2013." (Wikipedia)
