This term started off a gem!
Unfortunately, it's very hard to pick up on sarcasm when it's typed.
I'm sorry, I just really need to vent right about now...
Basically, I show up to school, bright-eyed, enthusiastic, pumped and then as the day goes on I realise that I've been reading all my assessment due dates wrong. In 2 subject. 2. That's a very large number when all your subjects are
Long story short: I'm in overdrive this week trying to get everything done. I won't have any form of a life besides school, gym and homework over the next 2 weeks though, based on other assessments due. But that's what I get and that's what I'm willing to do if it means getting my assignments in and them being of the best quality possible.
This photo was taken at 10pm after I decided I wasn't pulling an all-nighter for something due in 6 days. The shadows of my mum's blue glass was coloured, on the wall. I thought it was nifty.
People've been asking me to smile. This is about as good as it gets, and why not? I'm about to eat steak for breakfast with my sweetie.
Again was unable to get the shot that I went out to get and the sky was not co-operating and didn't carry a tripod.
This is part of St Pancras Station in London.
One of college basketball's major milestones a player can get and UW-Milwaukee's Jake Wright achieved it this game.

Still testing out the new toy, nothing too exciting.Waiting for fall colors.Im blown away at the details this little box gets and high iso is ok with some fill flash.
This is as close to the Crack of Dawn as I can get and still see anything more than a pinpoint of that big ball o fire. BTW….Pointing a normal DSLR camera into the sun is a bad idea if you don’t want to blind yourself. I use mirrorless cameras and more or less watch what I’m looking at with long big lenses on a little TV screen inside the eye viewer of the camera.
This was an unusually good sunrise that morning. I typically photograph most of civil twilight through the hour after the sunrise (golden hour). Mostly I photograph both sunrise and sunset shooting many hundreds a year usually over 400 a year historically. I’ve taken 57000 images since August 1. Looked at them all, finished around 6 a day average this month. It’s good to be busy😁

This old oak tree was once a big old oak tree maybe 200 years old. This entire area was once cleared for farming but has regrown since the early 1900s. This oak tree probably stood in a field, spared because it is in a rocky area along a ravine, beside a stream - an accident of time. When trees live in an open field there is no competition for sunlight. Trees are lazy like humans and if they don't need to go upward, which requires lots of energy to grow upward create cellular mass and deliver water and nutrients so far up. It requires a lot of cellular mass and cellulose to support the massive weight of a tall tree.
Further up the trail there are some nearly old growth trees and these easiiy stand up 100 + feet BEFORE they start to branch. These wild trees are in fierce competition for the sunlight. Those that are able to grow upward will get and shade out the ones that are too short or grow too slow to exploit a break in the canopy.
The whole cycle depends on the death of older and weaker trees. These trees fall in storms and become fertilizer, as well as home to countless insects and birds. Their falling sometimes pulls up giant amounts of earth leaving big craters - like a natural plow creating vernal pools and soft soil for new seeds to land. When a tree dies and falls (or falls and dies) a hole opens in the canopy. All the seeds there sprout up for the light to feed them, creating the magnificent tall trees that once blanketed this area.
As close as you can get and remain part of the audience, as opposed to the papparazi maniac photographers.
Our resident robin has had 5 more chicks which have fledged this week during the good weather we have been getting and I managed to capture these images of him feeding one at our door.
Day 2 - 9.30.
Anne smiling after her hug. I was probably taking the mick out of her hat...
"Anne, why are you wearing a boucle hat on a trek?"
"Oh, because if the Nepali's see my cropped hair, they might think I am a nun and that means they won't go out with me"
God it was good to have five Team Supporters and three cars!!! How would we have managed with only one car and two people for instance?!
Phil met one lady at Checkpoint 4, looking for the checkpoint. She had no maps, no water, no food and no mobile in her car. God only knows how that Team managed.
Team Support changed into their Tshirts for this one - we had a feeling the team needed all the support it could get, and we were right.
Its good to be home, and its doubly good to be the weekend too.
And the weather was expected to be up to 10 degrees above seasonal norms, so lots of opportunities to get and do stuff.
With me away again for four days this week, we needed little shopping, but as we were off out with friends that evening, we bought wine and cider as the Dining Club doesn't sell booze.
Back home for bacon butties and brews, then at ten, off out for a walk, as the weather was so glorious.
Still no Clouded Yellows in the fields of lucerne, but one I had climbed to Windy Ridge, there were butterflies galore along Green Lane, and dragonflies, all Common Darters, in good numbers too.
I had indented to go just across the fields, but ended up doing the full circuit, along all of Green Lane and then back down to Collingwood and home.
Along Collingwood, I saw a Hummingbird hawkmoth flitting for somewhere to perch, so to get out of the breeze. And sure enough it did settle, allowing me to get shots.
9,990 steps done, and all hot and bothered.
Worth it, though.
Back home, I got baking.
We had a leftover tin of pineapple slices, and I got the idea of making an upside down cake and real custard, as I had made a lemon custard for the recent Italian lemon tart.
I found recipes for both, but adapted the one for custard using single cream and milk instead of double cream, and using less liquid to ensure it was thick.
Well, readers, as you can see, both came out well, and the custard with a mix of vanilla pods and extract was perfectly flavoured.
We sat down to eat just after one.
Yummy indeed.
there's something about holga and lomo shots that are exciting; mostly, it's the unpredictability- you never know what you're gonna get. and really, generally the more whacky the images, the more appealing they turn out to be. the lensbaby was made to sort of mimic holga shots. i don't really feel they do that, and if you shoot digital, any serendipity is really out the window. this one though.. it's not what i was expecting and it's a little weird- so it gets a little plus for being unanticipated.

North Star Roller Girls league action on December 5, 2009, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN.
The Violent Femmes took on Delta Delta Di, and the Banger Sisters went up against the Kilmore Girls. Action was fast and furious, and people had a great time. The crowd was 1,535. :-)
Usually I don't whine but I just gotta say this. Probably my greatest unheralded feat as a photographer for NSRG is making it look like there's actually decent light in the Minneapolis Convention Center. There isn't. A few anemic top lights are all we get, and the bounce off the floor is next to nil. So these photos are almost all shot at ISO 6400 with a fill flash and fast lenses open to f2.8. And they all took a week or more in Lightroom to get in decent shape. What I wouldn't give for a venue with proper lighting! :-P
just me being amazed with black and white and how simplicity could pave its own way.. being as close as i could get and spotting as much imperfections as i could see...

Information on fishing vessels is sometimes hard to get - and with the Ships Nostalgia gallery site now seemingly gone for good, much past research has gone with it. This may be the 1983 built trawler Ocean Bounty, possibly by 2012 converted to other uses. In the Caledonian Canal basin at Corpach, a still snowy Ben Nevis looms over the scene.

The car show was fantastic , I talk with one of the people that had their truck in and they said it was about double what they usually get and he thought it was the great weather .
These photographs were taken from the footpath leading from the Youth Hostel car park to the beach at Porth Nanven. The sat nav should have taken us to Porth Nanven via St Just, which would have been on a tarmac road taking us straight to the car park only a few yards from the beach. This very uneven footpath took us to some huge granite rocks on the coastal path where I had to remain as it was too steep for me to climb down to the beach to take photos. So off Jim went as he is fitter than me, but he told me afterwards that even if I had reached the beach I would not have been able to climb over the rocks to take any photos as it far too dangerous for me. I was a little disappointed but it was not raining and there were some beautiful landscape shots I could get, and I had company of a local man who was walking a friend’s dog and was telling me about the local area.

Testing RAW processing.
One reason for getting and FZ50 was its ability to save RAW files, so I tried it out with this shot.
This pic is the JPEG which the camera saves along with the RAW file.
I spent an hour or so working on the RAW file using SilkyPix, and I was quite pleased with the result. As an afterthought, I spent about 10 minutes working on the JPEG using iPhoto. The results were different, but I thought just as pleasing. As a result I usually use JPEG mode.
Grotto 2 and Grotto 3 are the processed pics. I haven't said which is which yet. I would be grateful for (uninfluenced!) comments before I reveal all!
On the night of May 10th to 11th, there was a solar storm rated G5 (as big as it gets) and the Earth go hit with a lot of solar wind which gets ions in the atmosphere very excited. Lots of people in the northern hemisphere got to witness a very rare event!
165126 pauses for breath in the heat at Windsor & Eton Central on the morning of 14th July 2022. This shot, taken over the buffers, is about the best one can get and despite its spectacular concourse, and the adjacent castle, Windsor offers little scope for the railway photographer. To the north of the station, in the space between the railway and the trees visible to the right of the picture, a large goods yard was laid out between the station and the River Thames at ground level. Since the station was built somewhat higher up, the yard had to be reached by a steep incline built against the side of the viaduct. It sloped down towards a short headshunt, near the river bridge, which allowed switchback access to the yard sidings. In addition to serving the populace of Windsor and surrounding area, the yard provided a depot for Windsor gas works, receiving loads of coal and removing coke and tar. When freight services ceased in the 1960s, the goods yard and incline were removed. The yard remains a coach park but, on the side of the viaduct, it is possible to see where the incline was.
As the final few weeks for the wonderful machines that be River Link's Bristol VR's draw to a close, I thought i'd best get out on my day off and make the most of them. What a stunning day it was too. Here are some of the snaps I managed to get and I shall be there at the farewell day too to have a few more last minute rides and get some more shots :)
Using his new step stool. Note that the stool just fits into the space between the sink and the door. As big as it could get and still be functional.
ran into some huskies at the dog park. owner was nice and let me take pictures of them :-)
