The brigade leadership and staff are preparing for their rotation at the National Training Center as part of the unit’s upcoming mobilization and deployment to Afghanistan in early 2012. The UNIGIS, established more than two decades ago, is today one of the world’s foremost international education establishments in the field of geospatial science education. Having recognised the values of geospatial science education and by initiating programs and research projects in line with its mission to develop a global geospatial pool of professionals, UNIGIS has attracted dedicated multilingual scientific staff with a diverse range of expertise, which also resulted in the successful establishment of the UNIGIS International Association.
Over past decades, UNIGIS has not only produced over seven thousand of competent and qualified geospatial professionals to serve the global geospatial industry and national government programs around the world, but it has also produced several entrepreneurs who chose to set up their own business ventures in geospatial industry. Outputs from the research projects of UNIGIS have enabled appropriate application of policies and programs and also commercialization of fundamental research in the form of products contributing towards development of global geospatial Industry. UNIGIS is in the truest sense ‘The Global Virtual and Multilingual Network of GIScience’.
