The most popular phone at our conference was the Motorola V3 Razr.
Made of various metal alloys, it seems like a fine fashion accessory to the Powerbook.... Thinner than my pinkie when folded, it weighs under 100 grams. The backlit alloy buttons depress slightly for a pretty good ergonomic experience.
They were all purchased in China. The U.S. launch was delayed behind China as Motorola was inking a carrier deal. (For the U.S., Cingular got a 3-month exclusive, but they demand a 2 year minimum contract).

Mais de cinco mil pessoas estiveram presentes no Parque Fernão Dias, neste sábado (20/8), para participar do 1º Festival Contagem Geek. O evento, que integra o calendário de comemorações do aniversário de 111 anos do município, levou para o parque cosplayers de diversos personagens de filmes, quadrinhos, livros, games e desenhos, provocando emoções variadas em quem passou pelo local. Na programação, além de apresentações e desfiles de cosplay e disputas de dança K-pop, muita música e animação com o rapper geek, Chrono.
Iniciativa das secretarias de Comunicação e de Cultura, o objetivo foi viabilizar maior acesso à cultura, incentivar a arte de cosplay e da dança K-pop, assim como apresentar novos talentos, possibilitar o desenvolvimento de novas habilidades e promover muita diversão para o público de todas as idades.
Segundo a prefeita Marília Campos, o encontro possibilitou não apenas a ocupação do espaço público, como a celebração do aniversário da cidade e de algo que até o momento Contagem não havia se inclinado a celebrar, que é a "Cultura Geek". "Esse é um momento de comemoração e de fazer algo novo. Vemos muitos jovens presentes e isso é importante. Trazer algo novo é sempre gratificante, assim como estar presente a esse mundo diverso, de culturas ímpares e gostos únicos", disse, parabenizando os idealizadores do projeto inovador na cidade.
Uma das organizadoras do evento, Kathleen Neiva Bispo, conhecida como Kath Cosplay, destacou que o evento foi "surpreendente e certamente outros acontecerão". Para ela, a mobilização e a proporção que tudo ganhou só mostra a necessidade de haver mais opções para a juventude de Contagem. "Vimos uma aprovação muito grande, muita gente se divertindo, uma festa muito bonita e caracterizada. Muitas fantasias, maquiagens, numa mostra que precisamos dar aos jovens opções para se divertirem e interagirem", ressaltou.
"Nunca vi o parque tão cheio assim. E como é bom ver as pessoas se divertindo", disse Leonardo Rodrigues, que estava vestido de Homem-Aranha. Com a mesma empolgação estava Jéssica Silva, de cabelos rosados e maquiagem característica da personagem: "Contagem merecia algo assim, que mobilizou a população e trouxe algo novo para a juventude".
Tradição japonesa
De acordo com Haratani, professor da Associação Mineira de Cultura Nipo Brasileira - AMCNB, apesar dos japoneses já estarem no Brasil há 114 anos, a cultura Geek começou na década de 90, inserindo nos últimos anos o “anime, mangá e cosplay“, e tem se ampliado cada vez mais com o mercado de games e animes, atraindo os jovens para a cultura japonesa. “É sempre uma satisfação poder divulgar um pouco da cultura japonesa, especialmente para os jovens”, afirmou Haratani.

Usually I am very sceptical concerning online shopping. But when I needed new glasses and wanted to look where to buy them, I found this shop. There they offered original Oakley glasses (model: Gasket) for like two thirds of the usual price of my local dealers. Furthermore they also offered high quality prescription lenses for about half the price. I was taking my time to think about it (I mean ordering your prescription lenses over the internet is far from normal, at least for me). In the end I took the risk, typed my corrections in an online form and a few days ago I got my whole new glasses (which proved to be no counterfeit) for around 230 € instead of 420 € street price.
So you see, those geeky computer guys know how to save their bucks (for a new monitor, that will then further ruin their eyes...)
