A view of the Lions Gate Bridge from the sea wall at Stanley Park, with West Vancouver in the background. (Vancouver, BC, Canada)
J and I were the only ones that walked the Golden Gate Bridge, and we only went to the first structure, shown here. It was really windy! As with much of the CA trip, I was constantly challenged to try to capture the majesty of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Gates of Montecito is a collection of private drives and entries into some very unique homes and estates. All photograhps were taken from public property and are deliberately not identified.
As I was hiking in the Gates Pass area of Tucson, Arizona I saw this girl in the distance admiring the scenery. I watched for a bit as she effected different positions. Finally she sat down and, without my direction, created this pose which was most photogenic.
Project Narnia is part of our annual Creative Pathways Programme for schools.
Each year, one of our Season’s productions is used as the basis for inspiration, and this year The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was the stimulus for creativity across the city. With the help of Baillie Gifford and fellow sponsors, The Lyceum was able to offer Project Narnia for free to those schools located in deprived areas of Edinburgh.
Over 1140 children took part, from 14 Primary School classes, 4 High Schools, 2 Special Schools and 5 community groups.
Working with Lyceum professionals, the children identified what were for them were the main themes of the story. After much teamwork, brainstorming, prop-making, and rehearsing they developed these ideas to create their own plays which were then performed to friends and family. They also visited us twice, once for a backstage tour and a second time to see The Lyceum’s own production. For most, this was their first visit to a theatre.

One day coming home from visiting friends my wife saw a house with a fancy custom metal driveway gate. She said we need to get rid of the old chain link gate and get one of those nice gates.
I said those are too expensive theirs no way we could afford it. I told her I'll make one.
There were a bazillion ideas online so i just saved a bunch of pictures and came up with something.
They finally dedicated the Cloud Gate sculpture last Monday with its celebrated sculptor, Anish Kapoor, in attendance. He also finally gave in to the pet name, "The Bean," that Chicagoans fondly call his sculpture. This sculpture is a 66 feet long, 42 feet wide and 33 feet high stainless steel behemoth weighing about 110 tons. About 160-plus steel plates were welded together and attached to a structural frame to form a shape that is likened to a kidney bean or a mercury drop. It was built to the tune of about $23M (original estimate was about $9M) - from 1999 - its conception to 2006 for its finishing touches. Technology had to be developed to build this sculpture and this was originally planned to be built in California and shipped to Chicago through the Panama Canal and the St. Lawrence Seaway but they deemed that too risky so they built it on the spot.
They first unveiled this installation in 2004 for the opening of the MIllennium Park but then, the seams of the steel plates were still visible. It was a hit then even with the marks on its face. They finally completed the polishing of the plates and the result is magnificence. However, this is by no means finished. They still have to develop the technique how to clean this ... in any given day, there are rain streaks and bird droppings on the sculpture. You sometimes can see seagulls colonizing the top!
I gave Le Bernardin a little help with their holiday card this year. Remember the gates? Seems like forever ago.
