The Gardens on Garnish Island are the result of the creative partnership of Annan Bryce and Harold Peto, architect and garden designer. The island was bequeathed to the Irish people in 1953, and was subsequently entrusted to the care of the Commissioners of Public Works.

A beautiful magical place so much to see I can't show it all which is a shame but I hope you like this image here.

Thank you for your visit I hope you enjoy.

Garnish Island is located in the shelter of Glengarriff Harbour in Bantry Bay. Warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, this island and its unique gardens enjoy a climate that is almost sub-tropical, making it possible for beautiful ornamental plants to flourish. This gardening gem is set in clear, clean waters and is known to horticulturists all over the world. This shot was taken from the Grecian temple.

Thank you for your visit I hope you enjoy.

Lately I have seen TikTok's videos for Christmas themed cocktails by dipping the rim of your glass in frosting and then dipping it again in sprinkles to get a fun garnish. I wasn't about to make a cocktail at 9:00 AM so I used milk instead, a much healthier choice for so early in the day. :D

Thanks for your visit! HMM!

This great blue heron ended up with a few greens with his tiny fish. Before he swallowed it, though, he cleared off the greens. At the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.

Macro Mondays: #Garnish

What a versatile plant. I was aware that the Hibiscus can be used for tea. However, dried Hibiscus is edible, can be used as a candy and as a garnish.

When reading more about this plant, Wikipedia stated, "Contrary to popular assumptions that the flowers or petals are what is being eaten, it is the calyces." If you want clarification, just check out the link below.

this is the Italian garden feature on Garnish Island in west Cork, Ireland. A truly beautiful place to visit if you're ever in that part of the world. I took this picture many years ago while visiting, but only discovered it yesterday as I was going through some old files.

Macro Mondays theme: garnish (include food or drink)

Drink, a small bowl with wet sugar-coated edge and with an orange and a lemon slice as garnish.

Making of, slate plates , one as floor, one as background, combination of sun light and a hand held torch as backlight for the fruits. Without the back light the fruits are of a more boring color. Due to orange Back light to the lime, its more orange than normal.

Feel free to leave comments and constructive feedback. No P1/C1 or seen in group and similar.

For Macro Mondays - Redo of the Garnish theme from November 5, 2023.

When I posted the original (see below) I wished that from a compositional standpoint I had used the straight edge of a martini glass rather than the curvilinear edge of the wine glass. And although the slice was transilluminated, I felt that the high key approach deemphasized the structure of the septae and juice sacs. Since my emphasis in this image was on bringing out the details of the structure, I decided to go B&W.

The lemon slice is 2.625 inches in diameter.

Garnish is world renowned for its gardens which are laid out in beautiful walks and it has some stunning specimen plants which are rare in this climate ( micro climate ). The Gardens are the result of the creative partnership of Annan Bryce and Harold Peto, architect and garden designer. The island was bequeathed to the Irish people in 1953, and was subsequently entrusted to the care of the Commissioners of Public Works. The alternative names Ilnacullin, or Illaunacullin ( island of holly ) and Garinish, also have a long history in the locality, and appear in early maps.

I nearly didn’t do the MM garnish theme because:

A) Food photography is TOUGH

B) I had zero inspo

But, I baked this apple cake today (using apples from my dads mini orchard) and luckily went shopping. The shopping basket happened to include raspberries, and cream and whipped cream so here we are! (Doubled down on the sugar)(and the cream)
