The council took on about eight of these Superior Pak / Iveco side loaders for the garbage collections. This one was still pretty new in the picture, only a matter of months old back then. They also have a number of MacDonald Johnstons being used for garbage - trying a different body builder as I was told.

it's an interesting sight those back-alleys in Edmonton. People keeping their old cars and other derelict stuff laying around. makes for some "nice" photo ops.

CC Most Versatile - Number Two
I visited a park during a break between storms, when the wind was blowing, at times quite hard. Park employees had just changed out the garbage bags. The new bags were dancing about in the wind, inside out and flapping about. A video would be more dramatic than this photo. As you can see, they had to tie the bags to the cans so they wouldn't blow away. The things you notice when wandering around on a photoshoot.
The recycling bins are organized, the garbage bins are a mess!
(This shot is a little unfair -- there's a nicely organized stack of more garbage bins to the left, but it makes for a better story this way. :-)
Based on a rescue vehicle model built in the brick just this evening. I adapted the design into this using LDD, exported into Bricksmith, edited the model, and snapped this shot with LDView.
I have a few models I need to photograph, but haven't had much time to clean up the LEGO room. My apologies for being so inactive lately.
In an hour or so the garbage truck was going to come and get these magazines. I was hired to come and clean out a house prior to a move... so I did not get to compact these. The parents wanted to make sure their daughter did not take these with her. So it was a big of drama getting them to the can and staying there.

Die Mülltonnen der Schönen und Reichen werden in der Regel erst kurz vor der Leerung rausgestellt. Somit gibt es nur ein kleines Zeitfenster um teilweise wahre Schätze vor der Vergänglichkeit zu bewahren. In der Mülltonne einer Anwältin warteten diese schwarzen Prada-Plateaupumps auf die Müllabfuhr. Offenbar waren die Schuhe nicht mehr standesgemäß, da sie leichte Gebrauchsspuren aufwiesen. Ein Ende in der Müllverbrennungsanlage ist den Edel-Pumps zum Glück erspart geblieben.
Why Garbage? Well it's not too obvious. But again I've uploaded a shot from Lake Baikal. On one hand the lake got the reputation that it is polluted.
On the other we saw that the local people actually don't care about the environment. This little shed is one example. It has no other apparent reason apart from storing the garbage. Although it's rather big there are even bottles lying in front of it.
Furthermore there are also some thing scattered all over the place. Too bad.
What's the solution? This beach is also famous for some campers. Those are quite often collecting the dirt. In this matter i'd like to point out that i am no tree hugger. But it was rather dangerous to step on a sherd.
I just want to emphasize that the beach is not dirty whatsoever, but with a little more care, it'd be perfect!
In keeping with my "beach junk" obsession. Just a bunch of beer cans, but this scene has so much detail that I couldn't resist shooting it!

The modernization of the lifestyle of city dwellers is accompanied by a significant increase in the volume of waste produced by families, just as it is becoming more challenging to dump it in empty spaces. The municipality has been setting up waste drop-off points for around twenty years, but they quickly become saturated. The voluntary sector has taken the initiative of setting up door-to-door collection systems, thus enabling people in highly vulnerable situations to have jobs, most of whom are women. Initially, the collection was done with donkey-driven carts but with the disadvantage of slow movement accentuated by the weight of the loads. Motorized tricycles imported from China have emerged as a solution and currently constitute the primary means of transport used with the advantage of their speed. Waste collection is also accompanied by establishing numerous recycling units that help recover waste (metal, plastic, plants, etc.).
La modernisation du mode de vie des citadins s'accompagne d'une augmentation significative du volume de déchets produits par les familles tout comme il devient plus difficile de les déverser dans les espaces vides. La municipalité a mis en place depuis une vingtaine d'années des points de dépôts des déchets mais ceux-ci sont très rapidement saturés. Le secteur associatif a pris l'initiative de mettre en place des systèmes de collecte de porte-à -porte permettant ainsi à des personnes en situation de forte vulnérabilité d'avoir un emploi parmi lesquelles une majorité de femmes. Dans un premier temps, la collecte se faisait avec des charrettes à traction asine mais avec l'inconvénient de la lenteur des déplacements accentués par le poids des chargements. L'es tricycles motorisés importés de Chine se sont imposés comme solution et constituent actuellement le principal moyen de transport utilisé avec l'avantage de sa rapidité. La collecte de déchets s'accompagne également par la mise en place de nombreuses unités de recyclage qui contribuent à valoriser les déchets (métal, plastique, végétaux...).
