Dan & Grant had a system. They switched places every 3 blocks so each person got away from the stench and into the warm cab.

I visited a park during a break between storms, when the wind was blowing, at times quite hard. Park employees had just changed out the garbage bags. The new bags were dancing about in the wind, inside out and flapping about. A video would be more dramatic than this photo. As you can see, they had to tie the bags to the cans so they wouldn't blow away. The things you notice when wandering around on a photoshoot.
The recycling bins are organized, the garbage bins are a mess!
(This shot is a little unfair -- there's a nicely organized stack of more garbage bins to the left, but it makes for a better story this way. :-)
In an hour or so the garbage truck was going to come and get these magazines. I was hired to come and clean out a house prior to a move... so I did not get to compact these. The parents wanted to make sure their daughter did not take these with her. So it was a big of drama getting them to the can and staying there.
Garbage carts under an overpass, apparently this is where the City keeps at least a few of its cart selection.
Based on a rescue vehicle model built in the brick just this evening. I adapted the design into this using LDD, exported into Bricksmith, edited the model, and snapped this shot with LDView.
I have a few models I need to photograph, but haven't had much time to clean up the LEGO room. My apologies for being so inactive lately.
Garbage cleaner or a waste collector is a person employed by a public or private enterprise to collect and remove refuse.
But this person does the work for free. He or she may contact disease or enen die due to that.
I got the last old style 20 gal Brute, and a decorative patio garbage can from my local Home Depot. The mismatched lid on the 20 gal can was intentional and the cashier didn't seem to give a shit lol.
Why Garbage? Well it's not too obvious. But again I've uploaded a shot from Lake Baikal. On one hand the lake got the reputation that it is polluted.
On the other we saw that the local people actually don't care about the environment. This little shed is one example. It has no other apparent reason apart from storing the garbage. Although it's rather big there are even bottles lying in front of it.
Furthermore there are also some thing scattered all over the place. Too bad.
What's the solution? This beach is also famous for some campers. Those are quite often collecting the dirt. In this matter i'd like to point out that i am no tree hugger. But it was rather dangerous to step on a sherd.
I just want to emphasize that the beach is not dirty whatsoever, but with a little more care, it'd be perfect!
I was sitting at my computer and heard this noise outside and looked out and there was a truck.. He was downloading garbage cans for the new upstairs tenant.. So grabbed the camera and went to kitchen and got it lined up and Now we have a new truck picture.. Happy Truck Thursday, Everybody!!
Another of these semi-mysterious fully auto carts. The only other company around here that has any of these seems to be the Republic branch that serves the southern part of the Metro.
Tossed the garbage bag in the hopper and here is the June Cosmo screaming to be freed... or about to get the blade!!
This Afghani boy collect garbage to earn around 2 dollars daily.
During soviet invasion around 3 million Afghan refugees were settled in Pakistan.
A storm was raging outside, but the only thing raging during Garbage's set was the music.
Una tormenta rugía afuera, pero lo único que rugía durante el set de Garbage era la música.
Sicily. Castelbuono.
Late spring break.
Castelbuono is a Zero Waste town of 10.000hab in Sicily, Italy, which has managed to develop an innovative system to marry sustainability, social work and economics. The mayor, Mario Cicero, decided to link the recovery of a traditional donkey-breed from Sicily –called Ragusa- with the challenges of the waste collection in narrow streets and the social work to reintegrate people into society… and all of this without scaring off the big number of tourists that visit the fantastic medieval castle or buy local products of this Sicilian town.
This is how Mr Cicero decided to use the donkeys to do the door-to-door separate collection. On one hand it makes donkeys useful so that recovering this breed stops being a cost to become an asset, on the other hand it becomes a way to reintroduce socially excluded people -with mental or addiction problems- thanks to using contact with animals as a therapy –onotherapy– and finally it turns waste collection into a tourist attraction and an education tool. A win-win situation!
