The City strike continues.

But, to tell you the truth, with my lifestyle and where I live, I'm really not affected by it. And it's not even stinky, unless I go to one of the drop-off sites, like the one here at Moss Park.

Whatever the case, sympathy ain't high for these guys. Banked sick days? Humph!

In case you ask where the garbage truck goes.

This garbage can was empty the last time I looked at it, which was 2 days ago. Therefore all this is from "Yesterday." (For Monthly Scavenger Hunt)

This pile of CD-R's came from the garbage room of my apartment. Sure enough, they contained the person's resume, a bunch of photos, school projects, poems, essays and scans of their passport.

The lesson here should be to break your CD's in half before throwing them out... otherwise nerds like me will be laughing at you.

These were all I tended to litter on May 1st.

I started in eco design 3 years ago. My studio is located in the south of France, in the heart of Provence. Passionated about antiques, I give new life to forgotten objects. Furnitures, lighting, accessories, jewellery, I try to rewrite the history of objects that have ever lived. Each of my creations is unique and original, signed by a bolt and a chain. 1OO% hand made .... in France. I hope you enjoy my creations.

As you can plainly see, this is a very big pile of garbage between the two buildings of the motel. This is not only furniture and appliances, but also bags of people's trash removed from the trash cans and thrown into the pile. This trash often contained used syringes from drug users living in the motel. This would remain here for often up to a week, be cleared out, and then slowly accumulate into another mountain of trash. Animals would tear open the trash bags and scatter the trash. At one time, this used to be the area where children played. In the room where the door with a hole in it is, there was a man living there with his two toddlers ages 3 and 4 and a newborn baby that grew to the age of 1 1/2 by the time they moved out. The toilet on the right was left there with waste still in it.

I apologize for the finger.

This must be relatively new--I had never seen it before

This photo represents one of the worst problems of the St. James area. “Garbage Strike.” It has been almost a month from this strike. All the garbage bags are full of the trashes and there is no one to pick them up. Some people are very careless and simply throw them on the ground. It really is a critical problem.

The residents of the St. James area complain a lot. Some of the disposals are full. There is no space left for any more wastes. I saw a man walking on the street and throwing garbage intentionally on the road. He was mad at the system and was consoling himself by polluting the environment. This gives me the idea that the Garbage Strike has brought up mental problem to St. James Town.

In addition to health problems, it has also brought up psychological problems. People are really frustrated. Some are being helpful. They cover the garbage with plastics, but it does not really work. It smells very bad, especially during the night time.

These trashes are everywhere. They are thrown on the ground (as on this photo) in lots of places. It created serious health problems. Garbage are the main source of bacteria growth. Little kids play in this area and may touch this garbage. It will cause them serious diseases. Also there are birds and animals that will consume this garbage, i.e. rats and pigeons. They will get infected from germs. These germs will either kill them or make them harm human beings.

The residents of this area are hopeful to the government. Everybody counts days and hopes for the empty garbage can by tomorrow. The city of Toronto must resolve the problem very soon. It is a serious problem. It not only infects people or environment, but also creates severe diseases. Therefore, they must end this strike and clean all the garbage from this area.
