A geranium blooms on a bedside table in the guest room of Green Gables at the National Historic Site in Cavendish PEI.
A number of the houses in Rosedale Abbey have these crosses on the gable ends or facades. As the houses were built in the 1860s, these are purely Victorian embelllishments and nothing directly connected to the ancient Cistercian priory in the village.

It was quite the "colorless" morning with those clouds at the horizon. But I still like the view. Shot this 15 minutes before sunrise and I used 5 exposures at -3 to +3 EV (or thereabouts). This is going to fill up my hard drives real fast if I am bracketing 5 to 7 exposures now instead of 3. Eek!!

I imagine the house was built on the proceeds of the Alum industry that grew up in this valley. It certainly looks like a good deal of money was spent on its creation
I took this yesterday... I was pleased that the chimney had survived the storms and looks very solid. However, that crack in the south wall, which we first noted in 2008, has begun to spread and cause stones to be displaced. I suppose that it is too dangerous to try and conserve, not that there's the money for that any way.
A house gable in a small town in southern Germany. I tweaked the colours of the sky a little. The colours of the gable are almost real.

Silly me. I eventually found a parking space at Gatesgarth and realised I'd forgotten my tripod. Never mind, the skies were clear and light was harsh. So I headed up Haystacks. It ended up turning out really photogenic. I couldn't attempt the shots I'd like to have but I think I got away with one or two resting on rocks. Typical, the day before I had a tripod but was engulfed in rising fog.
