The summit of Great Gable in the snow. This time more of a focus in upon the cross left on the cairn after the Remembrance Service a few weeks previously.

I believe these were built by Lennar Construction, headquartered in Miami, Dade County, Florida.

The gable ends of old stone buildings.

I wished to capture the shapes of the gables, with their different aspects, in this photo. I emphasised the different tones and textures and used black and white to remove the distracting colours.

The clouds clear the summit of Great Gable.

Peak No4 Great Gable runs light engine into the depot. Also seen here the same day were D2 and D8. Earlier, at Tinsley, I copped my last Class 44 Peak D7.

This image is testament to the notion of ‘go out in the worst conditions and you’ll be rewarded with the best light’. The view down over Wasdale from the SW flanks of Great Gable. Most of you will have seen Mondays story behind the image, I summited in thick cloud. With the sense it was possibly breaking I persevered and stuck to my plan for sunset. Eventually I was rewarded, first with a fleeting fogbow and broken spectre too fast to capture. Later with this muted winter sunset above the clouds. What a day to be out in the fells!
