Yoga has a flexibility bias and a

lot of poses considered ā€œstrengtheningā€ (ex: hand balances, plank-y flows, even chaturanga) put the wrist in end-range extension.

 

Over time, it can lead to joint laxity.

 

These days I’m playing a different game: strength + stability.

And I adjust old favorites to keep the opening without the wear-and-tear.

 

A few I’ve modified HEAVILY:

• Forward Folds

• Chaturanga

• Handstand

1- keep your thighs down

2- lift onto forearms and knees

3 - lift into forearm plank

 

Alignment Notes:

Use your exhale to lift.

Drag your chest forward instead of pushing up during sphinx.

Lift from your abdominals, not your shoulders, butt or legs.

In forearm plank, reach through your heels and keep your hips low.
