Custom designed and fabricated, these unique side tables for conference rooms have bases roll-formed and machined from 1/2" thick brass, in two interlocking sections. An applied patina gives them a sophisticated antiqued bronze look. The tops are custom laminated glass, with sandblasted patterning, and brown laminated interlayers. The interiors are designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, Boston.

I've taken a very nice lidded jar made of heavy glass and added pieces of art glass and iridescent glass gems. The art glass is a assortment of textured, iridescent, marbled and opaque varieties. Surrounding the glass and gems is black polymer clay. Once the clay was cured, I painted it with a variety of metallic paints in antique gold, jade, emerald and gold leaf.

The jar weighs nearly 3lbs and measures 4.75" square and 5" tall.

Intensively brushed steel frame with glass-green acrylic grid, and an abstract arrangement of brightly painted forms highlight this unusual small conference table designed and built for Tom Simons, the founder of PARTNERS + simons. www.partnersandsimons.com/about.aspx

A series of similar tables are available to purchase. Please inquire!

Done! Today I finished building/tweaking an overhead lamp for my workspace. Challenge: When I added a TV to the space I had to move my IKEA KILA lamp (which is a great lamp btw). I put it behind the TV for a bit, but it didn't really give good light to my desk. Solution: Func it up by removing the wheels from the lamp and adding an old clamp - plus a couple extra bolts for Frankenstyle flavor. Now it's out of the way, provides great task lighting for the desk, and I can easily move it if I need to. #functionalart #buildsomethingnew #assemblage #funcitup

Desk has a minimal superstrut steel frame, with inset lasercut patinaed inserts, and an assembled collection of fossil fish, trilobites, birds, ammonites, and many others. Features include minimal drawers on accuride tracks, rotating pull-out CPU carrier, leveling feet, concealed power strips, etc.

Billi Kid, some dude by the name of Dwyane Wade and Joe Iruato hanging at the "Unlock the Art of Basketball" party last Saturday night. Presented by SushiSamba's Graffiti Gone Global, Sponsored by Premiere Beverage and Hosted by Miami Heat's Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and DJ Irie. The night was a slam dunk on so many levels, it will take some time for PWD to figure it all out. The take away for me was the art and how fine it looked on them there walls. More to come.

Cheers,

Billi Kid

Many thanks to my man Dave for commissioning this amazing bike. He has good style and allowed for us at Old World Bicycle to make some suggestions to give this machine is particular patina.

Dave works with CPS while they reinsert recess into the school day agenda. Dave we say thank you for educating Chicago's youth about the importance of being active and athletic. We are proud to have put this bike together for him & to do so to his specs with what we salvaged scraped, & gathered together to provide the most fashionable transport this city will allow. We hope to help inspire the good old fashion American spirit chalked full of hard work, elbow grease and a particular stubbornness that arose from our ancestors desire to build a better tomorrow at any cost. We were wrong a lot but kept growing, innovating, & evolving regardless of the obstacles that may arise. Because that is exactly what it took to bring this 40 + years old french road bike to its current state.

Details:

--Mid to early 1970's Motobecane road frame 54c

--700c mismatched fixed/flip flop Wheelset

--The frame was wire wheeled to bare metal and gun blued (gum bluing is a chemical process used to prevent corrosion on a variety of guns, mostly shot guns and rifles)

--Worn Brooks Saddle

--Aluminum stem and drop bars w/ signature OWB rubber tube wrap kept tight as the grips.

--exposed old chain Saddle retainer to ward petty thieves away from that beautiful saddle

This tough bicycle drips of cool and simply chuckles at the notion that it is anymore than what it is. Keep throwing challenges our way folks we put out great bikes over here and we thank you for the guidance.

Thanks to the crew.

Scottie “the out of work mechanic" for wire wheeling that ancient European paint off this well made and timeless hunk of high tensil steel. "Bubba" for hand sanding and applying the first two coats of Gun Blue. "Dick" for finalizing the gun bluing process and oiling the frame. I also want to say thanks to our neighbor bike shops for stocking what we need during our development stages.

With pleasure,

Art historian Francesca Bonazzoli and art critic Michele Robecchi explore how paintings such as the Mona Lisa and Scream achieve worldwide recognition. This accessible exploration of visual and pop culture reveals how particular works of art have become part of the collective imagination. The English version, MONA LISA TO MARGE - How the world’s greatest artworks entered popular culture, will release next spring by Prestel Publishing. Super happy that my irreverent interpretation of Laocoön was chosen for publication. The statue of Laocoön and His Sons is one of the most famous ancient sculptures, excavated in Rome in 1506 and placed on public display in the Vatican.

The Art of Basketball made it's second appearance at Art Basel Miami this year. Presented by Graffiti Gone Global powered by SushiSamba, our satellite exhibition was one to remember. All of the stars aligned to a perfect mix of art, sport, music and good times.

I want to give a shout out to all who worked hard behind the scenes to make it all happen.

To participating artists Cope2, Dave Cooper, Ewok One 5MH, Jack Aguirre, Joe Iurato, Shiro and The Dude Company. Your hard work and dedication to your chosen vocation make the Art of Basketball look "mighty fine".

To Shimon Bokovza, Joanna Cisowska, Alexis Knapp and the entire GGG / SushiSamba staff, a heart felt thanks and big hug for your generosity of time and spirit.

To Bob Drinon, Joe Drinon, Nick Doyle and team Premiere Beverage—WOW! Talk about spinning on a dime. You guys pulled off the best party this side of heaven. To be at the center of that storm was humbling—I can't thank you enough!

To DJ Irie, suffice it to say, I'm still spinning two days later!

Special thanks to Chris Bosh, Duwane Wade, Juwan Howard, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and the Miami Heat for embracing our project. This means the world to Public works Department and the Art of Basketball.

Last but not least, to Bill and Hayley Fickett, you guys are the best tag team ever. We go it done!

Cheers,

Billi Kid

Chicago started the "Decorated Object Project" (as I call them) in the USA with cows....it's fitting that they are doing garbage trucks as well. Newark NJ did a similar project this summer. While we are at it, lets decorate the landfills into environmental art and the train cars full of trash into rolling sculpture

It's crunch time for our exhibition in Miami this year!
