I made a few batches of buttercream frosting using Mastering the Art of French Cooking. This one tasted the best.
The storm left the trees with a spray of white on the pine needles and a beautiful contrast with the crisp blue skies
Yet again, I am at this classic location. This time of year its only 30-45 minutes after work I have to shoot, so a location close by my home is my only option for shooting.
The last few days have been very cold, -15°C at times. This cold still air close to the ocean seams to create these amazing frost roses. They are hard to see in the small images here on flickr. You will just have to belive me;)
I was not the only one there this day. I meet my old school buddy Skarpi, a talented and enthusiastic photographer.
it has snowed all day, we only have afew heavy wet inches here but up on the hill there is a LOT more snow.

Back to Portland, for a break from the treehouse. These are from Saint Cupcake, which was quite delicious, and just a couple of blocks from where we stayed. Yum! I love the notion of bite-size cupcakes. That way you can maximize the trying of all flavors!
Happy Halloween. Brush them teeths. Avoid root canals.
I had a package waiting for me when I got to work this morning, this was inside. Thank you. :) (Yes, it's a giant chocolate chip cookie)
"Layers of Frosting:" I took this photograph almost 2 years ago during a winter snow storm at the Grand Canyon. This week's weather made me think about that time, and so I dug into my archived files to share this one. It made me think of a frosted layer cake!

An icy night a few ago draped everything from halfway up Proctor Hill well into the Iron Range in almost fluorescent ice covered in snow. It's something else..

There is definitely a chill in the air, and last weekend there was a beautiful coating of frost on the leaves of this Maple tree in our back yard

Monday afternoon I wandered down to the beach to see the results of our recent snow storm. Both the beach and the ice shelves that jut out into Lake Michigan are now snow-covered. This is our first real snowfall during January and it wasn't more than an inch. How strange!

Who ever took the original photo in this book did a fabulous job making it looks like it's a real cake on a plate and not just a photograph. I love Chocolate Covered Katie's recipes, they are healthy and most of them are very easy to make.
Out on a chilly walk.
