Another scene on the river that caught my eye during the cold spell. Hoar frost is just so photogenic, hopefully it won't be years before we see it again!
To me it looks like the trees have been frosted with vanilla icing. This was taken on the Grand Mesa in Colorado.

Last night's storm left a bit of snow on the mountains surrounding Cómpeta. And the landscape has became even more white.
Our snow is basically gone again as temps have warmed back up...amazing to think only a couple more months till Spring!
Our local mountains had their first snowfall of the season. I managed to escape work for the afternoon and visited Seymour.
The ski runs only have a foot of snow. Above them, I followed the regular trail until Pump Peak. Here I wandered around in the fresh stuff. No snowshoes, but only sinking up to my knees in the deeper spots.
During the winter these trees are thick with snow and ice. It was a nice variation to have them only mostly covered. A happy hour was spent making the only footsteps and trying out different compositions. The sweet late-afternoon light was a pleasant bonus! I can relate to children who enjoy playing in the same school playground day after day. Roaming Seymour in the winter never gets boring for me. It's my outdoor amusement park.

A week ago we had a really amazing snowstorm. It was a mess, but the unique combination of rain and then transition to LOTS of snow has created one of the most beautiful, lasting frosting of the trees that I've seen around here. A week later and looks like the storm just hit. I used the wide angle of the Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 RF lens (the first third party autofocus lens for the new Canon EOS R system) to get the towering, frosted trees in the frame. Some warm sunshine was filtering through the trees adding some bonus light leading the eye up the path.
