there's 2 key things that make an old home of "good" quality in my mind. 1.) a beautiful grand fireplace and mantel and 2.) a big front door.

This image does no justice to the beauty of natural light now in the main hall. It was cloudy this evening, and it still looked nice. The transom lights here seem further from their true colors than those in the door.
I occasionally like to bring back an image of the bad old days to compare with the current progress. In this image from January of 2006, the door is there but has plywood over it. It's also encrusted in old paint. The bay windows had not yet been put back, and there's probably a lot else wrong.

Outside trim for the front door is painted the same color as window trim. But none of that is painted on the front side of the house, so it will stand out more for now.
The front door opens to a vestibule with beautiful leaded glass windows and transom. The floor is green tile.
