Window Wednesday(s)
It was quite damp out there today! I haven't taken a photo out of the front door in a long time; it's been too cold, but today, it got into the 50s, so it was warm enough.

Here's Harbie waiting for his favourite human (Tim!) He doesn't do this every day but on this occasion I found him there at 3pm and Tim doesn't leave work till 5!! Most of the day he's not far away from where I am and waits for me to wash up the final bits before we go up to bed!
Tim's had another hospital check up, but this time because of a weepy ulcer-type thing on his cheek close to where he had radiotherapy in 2019. The doctor told him earlier this year it was an ingrown hair and gave him antibiotics but a few months on it still hasn't healed. Apparently at today's hospital check the consultant said it was misdiagnosed and Tim has another type of cancer (not sure what kind but possibly because of the radiotherapy). He says it's not life threatening but will refer him for surgery to have it removed. So this'll mean Tim is under 4 different hospital departments!!

In the Spring the sunrises through the front door of my home. We got a little sunshine this afternoon, and the temperature hit 61°F.
... seen in Nottingham, near The Nottingham Contemporary.
It's a work of art. :-)

for the door group on FB. but i think i need to go back with my BGC bc zooming in closer i realized that this person collects heart shaped rocks to add to their front porch collection!! and i'd like a crisp close-up of that :)
I turned to look at the detail next to my chair.. So many good memories of things collected.

Wherever I have lived,
walking out of the front door
every morning
means crossing over
to a foreign country.
One language inside the house,
another out.
The food and clothes
and customs change.
The fingers on my hand turn
into forks.
I call it adaptation
when my tongue switches
from one grammar to another,
but the truth is I’m addicted now,
high on the rush
of daily displacement,
speeding to a different time zone,
heading into altered weather,
landing as another person.
Don’t think I haven’t noticed
you’re on the same trip too.

In terms of hierarchy no area is more important to the home than the main entry. Some are grand while others are scaled back. This used to be dark and uninvited. A new front door with sidelights changed everything.
The front door at our old place was missing half of its number and was in need of painting, and it opened onto a grubby communal hallway that was always littered with flyers, mail and other junk.
One of the many great things about our new place is that we don't have a communal door or hallway; our front door is ours and ours alone.
