"You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here." (Robert DeNiro, aka "Travis Bickel", Taxi Driver)
It was beautiful for a while, but got way too hot and hardly any rain so they didn't last. Helped attract the Hummingbird though, I'm sure of it!
Getting 'the bird' from guitarist, Bow Campbell at Front End Loader's gig at The Republic Bar 27th April, 2018.
Ok, so I'm officially NOT saying this is the final shot from last weekend's shoot at the crazy house. All week I've been posting bits and parts of things I found in my exploration of the creepy backyard full of stuff but this is one of the few full scene pics I took. This front porch belongs to a little grey shed, mid lawn packed floor to ceiling with lights and chandeliers. (like I said...crazy)
Dawn in Lariimer County, Colorado. I snuck out of the house early one morning while visiting recently and enjoyed a drive on nearby country roads.

White-fronted Chats are typically found in open habitats with low vegetation, particularly coastal saltmarshes & saltbush plains. Classified as insectivorous, its diet consists mainly of small invertebrates like beetles, flies, & midges, which it actively hunts by running along the ground. During the breeding season (typically August to January), both parents work tirelessly to catch these protein-rich insects to feed their nestlings, ensuring the rapid development of their chicks before they fledge.
This male was showing off his beautiful red and yellow head markings as he inspected the suet I had placed on that old tree stump in my yard. It was a cold and snowy day in February 2022. Montell, Uvalde County, Texas

Thank goodness for our plow guys who plow and shovel our walk and stairs— worth every penny! And bless my DD who keeps up with any snow that falls between their stops. Farther north of us they got 20+ inches, so we felt lucky.

Black-fronted nunbird - Monasa nigrifrons, Wikipedia describes this species in the following manner, "a species of near-passerine bird in the family Bucconidae, the puffbirds, nunlets, and nunbirds." By which I guess they mean it can nearly sing,,,, sounds like a lot of the acts in the charts these days.
P.S. The white-fronted nunbird, looks alot more like a nun.

A specialist of the open Mallee paddocks, the White-fronted Chat is a methodical ground-hunter, favouring a brisk, walking gait over the typical hop of other small birds. They patrol the low saltbush & dry earth, flushing out insects & spiders hidden within the sparse vegetation. While the flock is preoccupied with the hunt, a vigilant male will often take up a sentry position. From this vantage point, he keeps a sharp watch over the open terrain, his presence ensuring the group can forage in safety across the exposed landscape.
