Homemade banana nut bread, still warm from the oven and slathered with butter. And a cup of milk. It just doesn't get much better than this...

For less than $3.79 you get the same amount of everything. I put the spices out in the jars to show what I used in the dish, but they're all actually included in that little bowl on the left

Basket #3

This was my first attempt at making a basket from scratch, from a pattern called "Amy's Basket". I'm starting to notice a trend that getting the basket started is the easy part! The top half of this design in particular was really a challenge, largely because the handle is built into the entire basket, meaning that the weave must conform to the shape of the handle. The handle for this basket tapers considerably from the base all the way up. Things got a little scary near the end; I had my first try at trimming down the stakes as I neared the top (to keep the vertical spacing somewhat more consistent), so that was pretty intimidating. But, I survived...and finished it halfway through the night :-)

Despite my tribulations, it is a very nice, sturdy basket, suited well for carrying any number of items from point A to B.

Dimensions: 8" x 8" x 8" (12", including the handle)

We are celebrating Christmas tomorrow with My Hubby's daughters and his parents. This is the cranberry sauce that I made this afternoon. Lots still to do, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Bring 1 c sugar and 1 c water to boil. Add 3 cups cranberries. Boil gently for 1 minutes. I add a splash of Grand Marnier near the end for some orange flavour. Let cool, then refrigerate until ready to use.
