One of the trees in my neighborhood -- a sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus). In Europe these are known as "sycamores" -- except in Scotland where they are "plane trees." They're not native to the US but commonly planted as street trees.

Tower of the church Nuestra Senora de la Concepción in La Orotava :)
La Orotava is a town and a municipality in the northern part of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands of Spain. The historic center of La Orotava was declared Conjunto histórico in 1976 and is included in the Inventory of the European Cultural Heritage Protection and Monumental. La Orotava is an old town distinguished by its architecture and traditional Canarian atmosphere. The lush valley surrounding the town has been one of the island’s most prosperous areas since the 16th century. Most churches and manor houses here were built in the 17th century (with some dating back to the 16th century). In the old part of La Orotava you can see the church Nuestra Senora de la Concepción - the origins of this magnificent church date from 1516, however it was destroyed by the earthquakes of 1704 and 1705 and rebuilt in 1768. Today it is recognised as being one of the finest examples of baroque architecture in the entire archipelago with its three-fronted facade and three 24-metre-high bell towers.

Trooping Funnel - As the plants mature, the ring grows outwards getting increasingly larger each year. One ring in France measured half a mile across and is estimated to be 800 years old! The ring I saw today was about 12 metres across.
Dark Hollow Falls (Shenandoah National Park): With special thanks to my fellow mystery photographer who waited so patiently for me to finish capturing this long exposure on a tripod. Whoever you are, I hope you got a great one too!
After discussing wide-angle lenses with a friend here on Flickr, I was motivated to haul out the 10-24mm lens. I haven't actually taken a picture with it in years. So I took it down to Flowers on Fargo to experiment. Behold!

Smile on Saturday - Flowers Bottom
I was so happy to see my daisies were out. They changed location on me. Don't know how they did that.

an unusual perspective opportunity for sure...

This female European garden spider (Araneus diadematus), with a bit darker colour than typical has built here web on a large mallow in our garden.
Typically she hides above the web underneath a leaf and would be invisible if you don’t notice the web, but by poking her a little I got her to change position (and side of the web) to be out in the open.
Then I got on my back on the lawn under the plant and shot upwards which turned out nicely.
Part 1 - which is one of my favorite spider shots I've taken can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/48734496742/
A chameleon of a building. The Bancorp Tower in Portland can look many different colors each day. It's called "Big Pink", but is sometimes purple, gray, pink, or in this case, really blue (taken in the "Blue Hour"). Second tallest tower in Portland, after the Wells Fargo Center.
Cleaning out the garage I found a big box Barbie dolls. Now she looks down from the shelf where she has spent the last 15 years
This building is called "Walden 7" and exists in Barcelona, however far from the city center. It was designed by Ricardo Bofill and Manolo Nunez-Yanowsky (the latter of which I currently work with). It's a fascinating place, and I'll be posting more of my photo shoot soon.
The top of The Westin disappeared into low-hanging fog. 15 minutes after I took this, the fog cleared away.
