These tiny frogs vary from all-brown to almost all-green, with differing degrees of spotting. Is this a Northern or Southern?
Found this guy almost dead in the backyard.. I re hydrated him and in a few minutes he was my new subject.
Although resembling a Pickerel Frog (Rana palustrus), including presence of (faint) yellow in the groin area, other characters (greenish coloration on dorsum, rounded dorsal spots, and large size) suggest Northern Leopard Frog (R. pipiens). Both are present at this location, and the two species have been reported to hybridize in the wild. Carlton Pond, Troy, Waldo County, Maine

This is my first upload in over six months, and this picture is more than a year old. I don't know why I slack off so hard when it comes to posting new stuff; this frog deserves better. Also, I recommend checking out the original image size (macro lens for the win).
