An even bigger female!!!

Green and Golden Bell frog adult. These frogs used to be so common that they were used for dissection in high school experiments. Now they are endangered for a number of reasons including chydrid fungus and over developement. They are now only found in a few locations in and around Sydney. However, they have been introduced into New Zealand where they are doing very well.

Frog season has started! They hide in the flowers and leaves in the garden and best of all, they cling to the windows at night to catch bugs coming to the light shining out the window. I've been wondering where they all were this year and finally here they are. Lots of little bright green ones! They'll only be around for about a month and then it gets too cold and they dig into the ground and go to sleep for the winter. Where have you been all summer my little tiny froggie friends??? I adore you!

Frog

We have two frogs in our new home! They live in a little stone tub filled with water and have free reign of the "madang" (inner courtyard). We often hear them hopping around (splat! splat!) and barking (arp! arp!) at night. At first they were a bit shy of us, but now they are quite active when we are home. They even sleep in our shoes.

I came home one rainy evening and found this little green frog had taken up residence on my front door!

I know its not a good shot but you can see a good close up of this little guy. Just thought I would share.

The last photos I plan to upload from my visit to the dale last Thursday.

I saw this frog (or toad?) on the track as I made my way back down. It was happy to stay still but stupidly I never thought of getting a head-on shot at the time. I rarely see a decent-sized frog though I know others think them common.

I am delighted to get a sharp shot of it.
