Nature photography sometimes give you more than just a full smart card to take home...this shot gave me mud soaked shoes and mud nearly up to the knees on my jeans...but I got the shot! LOL
Fergus discovered his love for frogs while on vacation in Maine! They, however, were not enamored with him!
The night before I took this picture I recorded the frogs concert in Colliure (south of France). The next day I started a quest for the perfect picture of the frogs. Slippery bastards they are! But, after chasing this particular individual for a LONG time, I finally managed to take this picture.

The common name for this frog is the Giant Burrowing frog. It is the largest frog species in the Sydney region. The males have very large forearms with black spines possibly for mating or combat purposes. When I found this one it was sitting next to a trail of ants and slowing picking them off. They have a call that resembles an owls call.
I'm afraid I may have injured his tongue. I was weeding and he jumped out but not immediately away and his tongue was hanging out. It makes me very sad to think of harming such a wonderful little guy.
Small frog found here in NE Oklahoma in grassy and damp environment. I'm fairly sure I've seen the same frogs on the verge of the pond before. Frog appears to be terrestrial in nature.
Size of frog: approx 1 inch in length.
