Framed - Morning @ Lalbagh- Bangalore

Organdi Photo Frame

This striking frame is hand carved from mango wood in a rustic finish.

The mango wood used is for this photo frame is sustainable. Mango trees are initially grown for their fruit but once the trees reach a certain size and age, they stop bearing fruit. It is then that the trees can be cut down and used to create wood products. The removal of the old trees makes space for farmers to plant new mango trees. This not only means that none of the wood is wasted but offers a supplementary income to mango wood farmers.

Our photo frames are, where possible made from natural and recycled materials. Many of our frames are made from recycled aluminium and other light metals, the bone we use is a by product; the natural materials we use are taken through the correct channels and hold all the appropriate certifications; our wood is taken from sustainable forests.

Size: 4x6 window

Colour: Burnt White

Timber framing and "post-and-beam" construction is a general term for building with heavy timbers rather than "dimension lumber" such as 2"x4"s. Traditional timber framing is the method of creating structures using heavy squared-off and carefully fitted and joined timbers with joints secured by large wooden pegs (larger versions of the mortise and tenon joints in furniture)

birthday gift last year, got inspired by seeing fabric frames at Anthropologie and decided that I could make some for gifts, but then I had to create a collage in photoshop to go in the frame. I never take the easy way out.

Early June 1st, out looking for Bald Eagles in the SE of Calgary and we had a morning daylight moon. On our walk I saw this opportunity to get it framed by the tree...I like how it turned out.

I made this from a scan of a gold brooch and a scan of a straight section of gold picture frame.

365 Project - Day 336

The next few days won’t be very spectacular with regards to photography - it’ll be a very busy weekend. To start things, I took another iPhone picture: The light - once again - was spectacular and looking through an alleyway gave a strange looking, triangular frame.

Defective framing delivered by an Anchorage general contractor [Erik Dawson, Dawson Development]. This framing was demolished following extensive documentation. These photos are made available for framers, contractors, and clients as an educational tool.

Natural framing is the concept of finding something in your surroundings, natural or man-made (yes, we still call it “natural framing”), that can be used as a frame for your “real” subject.

As soon as you start focusing on and looking for natural frames, you will find lots of them. The trick is finding interesting subjects that are framed by them!
