Kibbutz Beari is located in the Western Negev, about four kilometers east of the Gaza Strip. Associated with the Eshkol Regional Council and is the northernmost settlement among the council's settlements. Bari was established at the end of Yom Kippur 5777 - 1946, within the framework of the 11 points. The kibbutz was named after Berel Katznelson, whose Hebrew name was Bari. The kibbutz belongs to the Kibbutz (kibbutz movement).
As of June 26, 2022, the kibbutz population numbered approximately 1,108 people and is the largest settlement in terms of population in the Eshkol Regional Council.

The kibbutz came up on the ground in the Wadi Nakhabir area, on the mouth of the ancient Beer Sheva-Gaza canyon that was in the Miocene period, several kilometers south of Kibbutz Barot Yitzhak, from where the founders came. The founders of the kibbutz were from two cores - the training of the youth working and studying in Ma'oz Haim and the second core of Scouts. They were joined by a group of immigrants from Iraq who underwent training at the level of the conqueror. In the first years, only part of the core lived in the kibbutz itself and the rest of the group lived in the fence, for security and economic reasons. During the War of Independence, the kibbutz was bombed by the Egyptian army. A sign was erected near the kibbutz and the residents were armed with a limited number of rifles and mortars.
After the establishment of the state, the kibbutz was moved 3 kilometers to the southeast, to an area with more suitable areas for cultivation, where it is still today.

The main source of livelihood for the kibbutz is a modern printing factory "Bari Printing", which is based on a printing press established in the early years of the kibbutz. There is also agriculture - Sde Pardes crops and a bicycle center for pedalling. The kibbutz is partially owned by A.B. Planners.
Being an agricultural settlement or a settlement in a development area, workers who move their place of residence to the settlement and live there for at least six consecutive months, benefit from the fact that if they quit their job for that purpose, the resignation will be considered as dismissal for them. Being one of the localities surrounding Gaza, its residents are given an income tax credit in accordance with Article 11 of the Income Tax Ordinance.
In 2006, a synagogue was inaugurated in the kibbutz, at the initiative of some of the residents.
In Bari, the superfood Mankai is grown, which is a cultivated variety (registered variety) of kelp.

During Operation Tzuk Eitan in the summer of 2014, a squad of nine terrorists infiltrated Israel through a tunnel, about 9 km from the kibbutz. The squad ambushed an IDF jeep, murdered Major Amots Greenberg and his driver Adar Bresno, and returned to Gaza. In the summer of 2015 , at a propaganda festival of the Hamas media department to mark the anniversary of the operation, several videos of the organization were distributed. One of the videos documented, according to Hamas, an intrusion into Kibbutz Bari. Haim Yelin, head of the Eshkol Regional Council at the time of the operation, said the video was fake: there was no infiltration of Bari and the visible area at all In the background of the video are not the hills of Bari, but dunes on the Gaza coast.
During the spring of 2018, between three and four incendiary kites were launched towards the area every day from the Gaza Strip, which caused fires in the area. Following the fires, a "fire patrol" was established in the kibbutz to deal with the many fires. Also, the kibbutz suffered from shelling during the rounds of fighting between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
In 2023, in a surprise attack on Israel, Hamas terrorists carried out a massacre in the settlements surrounding Gaza. Many of the residents of the kibbutz were murdered and kidnapped.

Extended value - the massacre in Bari
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the holiday of Simchat Torah, at the beginning of the surprise attack on Israel, more than a hundred well-armed terrorists infiltrated the kibbutz. They overcame the emergency squad and first responders who were called to the scene, and carried out a massacre of the kibbutz residents, in which more than 130 of the kibbutz residents were murdered. A number of residents were kidnapped in the Gaza Strip by Hamas. Additional forces, under the command of Brigadier General Barak Hiram, arrived at the kibbutz, and in heavy fighting, which lasted until Monday afternoon, the cleansing of the kibbutz from terrorists was completed, including those who had barricaded themselves in various compounds in the kibbutz, some with trapped civilians. As of November 2023, the place functions as a closed military area.

There are several tourist sites near the kibbutz. To the north of the kibbutz is a reserve in Tarot Bari, which is a center of attraction in the winter, during the anemone blooming season. The reserve contains the first settlement site of Bari ("Nahabir"), the Bari Sulfur Mines, an abandoned sulfur factory from the days of the British Mandate, the Anzac Hand, a monument to Anzac martyrs from World War I, and British ammunition storage buildings from World War II. There are also bicycle routes for families and experienced riders.
Barry Gallery operated in the kibbutz starting in October 1986, and presented exhibitions in which the best artists in Israel participated. In the massacre carried out by Hamas terrorists, the gallery was completely destroyed. The gallery will operate in Beit Romano in Tel Aviv.
In the Sinai War, the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War, an emergency military cemetery was established at a site northeast of the kibbutz, where some of the victims of the Sinai battles were buried. After the three wars, the graves were moved from there to permanent burial and the cemetery was dismantled.

נכון ל-26 ביוני 2022 אוכלוסיית הקיבוץ מנתה כ-1,108 אנשים והוא היישוב הגדול ביותר מבחינת אוכלוסייה במועצה האזורית אשכול.
השנים הראשונות
קיבוץ בארי ביום העלייה על הקרקע
הקיבוץ עלה על הקרקע באזור ואדי נחאביר, על השפך של קניון באר שבע-עזה הקדום שהיה בתקופת המיוקן, מספר קילומטרים דרומית לקיבוץ בארות יצחק, משם יצאו המקימים. מקימי הקיבוץ היו משני גרעינים - הכשרת הנוער העובד והלומד במעוז חיים וגרעין של הצופים ב'. אליהם הצטרפה קבוצה של עולים מעיראק שעברו הכשרה ברמת הכובש. בשנים הראשונות ישב רק חלק מהגרעין בקיבוץ עצמו ושאר הקבוצה ישבה בגדרה, מטעמים ביטחוניים וכלכליים. במהלך מלחמת העצמאות הופצץ הקיבוץ על ידי הצבא המצרי. ליד הקיבוץ הוקם משלט והתושבים היו חמושים במספר מצומצם של רובים ומרגמה.
לאחר קום המדינה, הועתק הקיבוץ 3 קילומטר דרום מזרחה, לאזור עם שטחים נוחים יותר לעיבוד, ושם הוא נמצא עד היום.

מקור הפרנסה העיקרי של הקיבוץ הוא מפעל דפוס מודרני "דפוס בארי", המתבסס על דפוס שהוקם בשנים הראשונות של הקיבוץ. קיימת גם חקלאות - גידולי שדה פרדס ומרכז אופניים לה-מדווש. הקיבוץ מחזיק בבעלות חלקית של א.ב מתכננים.
בהיותו יישוב חקלאי או יישוב באזור פיתוח, עובדים המעתיקים את מקום מגוריהם ליישוב וגרים בו לפחות שישה חודשים רצופים, נהנים מכך שאם התפטרו לשם כך מעבודתם, ההתפטרות תיחשב להם כפיטורים. בהיותו אחד מיישובי עוטף עזה, ניתן לתושביו זיכוי ממס הכנסה בהתאם לסעיף 11 לפקודת מס הכנסה.
בשנת 2006 נחנך בקיבוץ בית כנסת, ביוזמת חלק מהתושבים.

בזמן מבצע צוק איתן בקיץ 2014 חדרה חוליה בת תשעה מחבלים באמצעות מנהרה לישראל, כ-9 ק"מ מהקיבוץ. החוליה הציבה מארב לג'יפ צה"לי, רצחה את רס"ן אמוץ גרינברג ואת נהגו אדר ברסנו, וחזרה לעזה. בקיץ 2015, בפסטיבל תעמולה של מחלקת המדיה של חמאס לציון שנה למבצע, הופצו מספר סרטונים של הארגון. אחד מהסרטונים תיעד, לדברי החמאס, חדירה לקיבוץ בארי. חיים ילין, ראש המועצה האזורית אשכול בזמן המבצע, אמר שהסרטון מזויף: לא הייתה כלל חדירה לבארי והשטח הנראה ברקע הסרטון איננו גבעות בארי, אלא דיונות בחוף עזה.
במהלך אביב 2018 שוגרו מדי יום לעבר האזור בין שלושה לארבעה עפיפוני תבערה מרצועת עזה, דבר שגרם לשריפות באזור. בעקבות השריפות הוקמה בקיבוץ "סיירת אש" שנועדה לטפל בשריפות הרבות. כמו כן, סבל הקיבוץ מהפגזות במהלך סבבי הלחימה בין רצועת עזה לבין ישראל.
ב- 2023 במתקפת הפתע על ישראל, מחבלי חמאס ביצעו טבח ביישובי עוטף עזה. רבים מתושבי הקיבוץ נרצחו ונחטפו.

בשבת, 7 באוקטובר 2023, חג שמחת תורה, בתחילת מתקפת הפתע על ישראל, חדרו לקיבוץ יותר ממאה מחבלים חמושים היטב. הם התגברו על כיתת הכוננות וכוחות ראשונים שהוזעקו למקום, וערכו טבח בתושבי הקיבוץ, שבו נרצחו יותר מ-130 מיושבי הקיבוץ. מספר תושבים נחטפו לשבי ברצועת עזה בידי החמאס. כוחות נוספים, בפיקודו של תא"ל ברק חירם, הגיעו לקיבוץ, ובלחימה קשה, שנמשכה עד יום שני בצהריים, הסתיים טיהור הקיבוץ ממחבלים, בהם כאלה שהתבצרו במתחמים שונים בקיבוץ, חלקם עם אזרחים לכודים. נכון לחודש נובמבר 2023 המקום מתפקד כשטח צבאי סגור.

סמוך לקיבוץ קיימים מספר אתרי תיירות. מצפון לקיבוץ נמצאת שמורת בתרונות בארי, המהווה מוקד משיכה בחורף, בעונת פריחת הכלניות. בשמורה קיים אתר ההתיישבות הראשון של בארי ("נחאביר"), מכרות גופרית בארי מפעל גופרית נטוש מימי המנדט הבריטי, יד אנזא"ק אנדרטה לחללי אנזא"ק ממלחמת העולם הראשונה, ומבנים בריטיים לאחסון תחמושת ממלחמת העולם השנייה. כמו כן, קיימים מסלולי אופניים למשפחות ולרוכבים מנוסים.
גלריה בארי פעלה בקיבוץ החל באוקטובר 1986, והציגה תערוכות בהן השתתפו מטובי האמנים בישראל. בטבח שביצעו מחבלי החמאס נהרסה הגלריה כליל. הגלריה תפעל בבית רומנו בתל אביב.
במלחמת סיני, מלחמת ששת הימים ומלחמת יום הכיפורים הוקם בית קברות צבאי לשעת חירום באתר מצפון-מזרח לקיבוץ, ובו נקברו חלק מחללי הקרבות בסיני. לאחר שלוש המלחמות הועברו החללים משם לקבורת קבע ובית הקברות פורק.

The Government of Azerbaijan and United Nations launched the formulation of the joint strategic partnership framework for the next five years.
The Ministry of Economy and Industry hosted the launch of the joint consultation process, which brought together senior government officials, development partners, representatives from the private sector and civil society to identify the broad priority areas for the cooperation between the UN system and the Government. The prospective collaboration framework will be aligned with the national priorities that are articulated in ‘Azerbaijan: Vision 2020’ development concept, which builds on the country’s latest socio-economic achievements and provides a framework for its transition from a traditional economy to a knowledge-based, competitive and diversified economy.
The new strategy will support the agreed international goals and Post-2015 Development Agenda, a new framework for sustainable development, reaffirming the mutual commitment of the Government of Azerbaijan and United Nations to further deepen partnership and continue working in a concerted and effective manner. It will constitute a robust mechanism to foster coherence, relevance, effectiveness and efficiency within the UN system, and will give a significant attention to achieving results, with a focus on strengthening national Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) capacity and deepening the integration of M&E into national development planning process.
On behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Economy and Industry will further co-lead the process of the preparation of the next partnership strategy until the end of August together with the United Nations and in consultation with all government and international partners. The strategic directions and expected results of the next partnership framework will be validated tentatively by end-September and endorsed by the Government by December 2014.

In the framework of the National Model United Nations held in Azerbaijan on 20-23 February 2016, the simulation of UNHCR on the case of developing durable solutions to challenges of refugee crisis.
76 people participated in the simulation conference during four days. The sessions were moderated by Sheyla Rzaeva and Farid Alizada. Four draft resolutions were submitted by the member states and all four were adopted by a two-thirds majority. As the result of the game, the participants were awarded with certificates. For their outstanding contribution to the committee the following delegates were awarded at the closing ceremony.

Lab2014 students presented their final design explorations for Benjamin Bratton's Critical Frameworks section, "2 or 3 Things I Know About The Stack" at The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) at UCSD. The group visited an immersive 3-D projection "CAVE", a 4K digital theater and the nanotech cleanrooms on campus, as well as The Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
