Over the last year I have collected shells from a shore line here in Adelaide. I got to the beach to remember my mother. When I began this collection, I realised I wanted to display them rather than put in a box. My idea of having some box frames eventually developed in these final products.

Steve actually has one of the extremely rare ($3,000!) editions of George Lucas's "Frames" book set, which he showed to us. I never thought I'd see one in person!

Quand la place de la République devient l’agora du peuple de néon...

 

Le bassin se transforme à la nuit tombée en une place de village peuplée de 69 êtres lumineux. A la surface de l’eau, la décomposition de chacun de leurs mouvements donne vie à ces sculptures de néons*.

 

Elles s’animent, défilent en parade, s’engagent dans une danse, entrent dans des discussions, ou encore se livrent à une altercation. La composition sonore entremêle les sons émis par ses personnages, renforçant le réalisme de ces scènes et décuplant leur puissance imaginaire.

 

Le spectateur est capté par ces histoires animées qui se succèdent dans cette boucle de 4mn30, telles une série de courts-métrages.

 

* il s’agit en réalité de bandeaux de led imitant la forme des néons. Leur consommation énergétique est très faible (50 W/h par personnage).

An average of 349 frames from video taken using my 600 MHz iBook with an OrangeMicro iBot FireWire CCD webcam using BTV Pro mounted with a Mogg webcam adapter on an 203.2mm f/6.3 classic Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with a JMI MotoFocus with DRO and a TeleVue 5x PowerMate at 11:18 PM on September 6, 2003 in Ellenville, NY. Each of the frames was aligned and averaged using Keith's Image Stacker after subtracting a dark frame from each on my 467MHz PowerMacintosh G4. Distance at 0.3809 au and increasing. Longitude of central meridian: 289.1 deg. Apparent diameter is 24.57 arcsec. Altitude: +30°06'28" (with refraction: +30°08'10")

I keep going back to this.
