Sometimes you just see a backdrop that is so gorgeous and full of painting quality that you just need to frame it. :D

I love the grass in Emily's hair. Can you see it? The little details are what makes images special to me and I also hope, for you to. :)

The frame of an ex-ATSF SD45 is ready to head to NRE for "rebuilding". At least that's what the note said. I'm guessing just a few parts are needed...

In our society self confidence is rare. We tear each other down constantly. Its like barely anyone knows how to be nice. There has been a lot of photos taken of people with their flaws, and insecurities written on them. But I didn't want to do that. I didn't want to expose her for the things she wasn't proud of. I didn't want to focus on the negative. And we as a whole have a negative outlook. I could continue to say society this and society that. But I am part of society, we are all part of the society we live in. So I was trying to break the norms. By showing that you can be strong, and beautiful. And brave to stand up in the face of negativity and stand for all the positive things you believe in. She is holding little pieces of wood to frame her face, that way you look right at her. The attention is on her. I used the composition technique "Frame it" to do this. To show her off with her strengths. And the green is a natural calming color, that makes it seem less fake. And more organic. Like it is true. Like somehow the more natural it is, the more true it is. That if she is in nature, it makes her more real. More true to herself. To the genuine kind person she really is. That genuine person we all can be, if we allow ourselves to realize our strengths and show them off.

Julia's Christmas gift to me. 22 wee frames to hold some of my best photos from 2008.

My bench isn't always this messy, but it often is.

A private Tudor manor house with a C12th moat and medieval fishponds. The gardens are open in the summer.

It was built c.1538 by Martin Hastings, courtier to Henry Fitzroy, Henry VIIIs illegitimate son. It was restored by Gerald Gosselin of Bengeo Hall in Hertfordshire in 1900.

Nikon F3 HP w/ AF Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8D and Fujicolor C200. f/1.8, 1/8s. Plustek Opticfilm 8100 and Silverfast SE Plus 8.2 @ 3600 dpi. Retouched and cropped.

I put the camera on a news stand, hence the reflexions that fill up the negative space in the bottom. I like that C200 has a bit of a 80's/early 90's feel to it.

A shot of the inner peristyle of the Getty Villa - for years, I studied the villa's inspiration, the Villa of the Papyri, as an archaeology major, so to be able to finally see the villa in person was absolutely incredible. The columns of the inner peristyle of the main building framed a picture-perfect blue sky.

Taken at Seewri Fort. It seems birds love to be framed. I am not a bird-shooter but tried few today.

'Framed' by Stuart Haygarth at the V&A Museum. Part of London Design Festival.

This is meant to represent a "macro scale" version of an Intercept Orbit labor frame. It has large mag-lock feet for holding on to the outside of a ship's hull, along with arms that are low and close to the surface it will be working on.

Framed one of my newer pieces. Looks great in my office. Found a standard long fame in my local craft store. What do you think? The actual image is about 18" long.

This was actually a test shot of the talented Mike Jacobs before he did some martial arts kicks. I like this for its menacing comicbook like feel as he is being back lit byspeedlights behind him that rim light and give the dramatic shadows..

strobist 411: one sb800 camera left, as seen bare on a stand, another sb800 is camera right obscured by the metal frames also bare. Triggered with pocket wizards.
