Not a stitch this one. Four cloud to ground bolts hitting the Indian ocean at once. This was one of the last shots I took during the 5 days of storms that took place at the end January/beginning February 2015
At the heart of Iqaluit, the “Four Corners” glows under a dramatic Arctic sunset. The wet pavement mirrors the fiery sky, while the community center and surrounding buildings stand as warm beacons against the cool northern evening. Power lines trace across the horizon, tying together the lived-in character of the city with the vastness of the tundra beyond. This crossroads is more than an intersection—it’s a gathering point, a pulse of daily life, and a reminder of how community endures even in the most remote landscapes.
The richness of the sunset’s colours owes much to the vast wildfires burning through the southern boreal forests of Canada. Smoke and fine particulates carried north scatter the light, deepening the reds, oranges, and purples that paint the sky. It’s a striking reminder of how distant ecological events ripple outward, touching even the Arctic with their beauty and their warning.

A little over forty-four years before I took this photo, the Lehigh Valley Railroad ceased to exist, and I took my last photo of a real, unpatched road unit leading a train. Much of my early work had the LV as the subject, and it deeply saddened me to see my favorite railroad disappear. A few years ago, I met photographer Loyd Lowry, and I lamented to him that I had had no luck shooting the LV heritage unit. He said that he felt like he saw it more often than he wanted. I finally got redemption, shooting it leading NS empty hopper train 777 along the Juniata River at Aqueduct, Pennsylvania. It was appropriately paired with the Nickel Plate heritage unit, since the Lehigh Valley and the NKP had a run-through train in the early 1960’s.

Went over to one of my favourite spots this morning, Waverton, which has an awesome lookout over the city.
Four girls turned up for a sunrise picnic, and after asking their permission, I included them in my shot.

Four identical Massey Ferguson tractors are lined up by the fence after cutting a hay field in Montpelier, Idaho. HFF
This may have been a supercell. I don't remember whether it was rotating. Perhaps it was just a cumulonimbus. What I do remember is that not long afterwards, all hell broke loose.
The S5Pro was the apex of Fujifilm's CCD sensor-equipped cameras. The camera body is a Nikon D200, but with a Fujifilm-developed sensor and firmware. The Super-CCD sensor is special in having two superimposed sets of photosites with different light sensitivities, supposedly enhancing the dynamic range.

For Macro Mondays "four". The little wire sculpture is just under 2" from the left corner of the yellow 4 to the right tip of the green one.
Unbeknownst to me until I downloaded the photos from my camera, one of my early takes of this image ended up with file name "DSC_4444". (Sadly, it wasn't this one.)
