A pair of four-spotted chasers oppose one another in flight at Thursley NNR, Surrey. The one at left is an ovipositing female.
A small group of moderately old Scots Pine trees with Sgurr na Lapaich in the distance.
Also in black and white.
A long day just for four bug shots, but very enjoyable out of the wind and in the sunshine at Loxley woods in Somerset.

The grandkids got to meet their great grandfather today for only the second time. So we did another four generation shot and then we all got in the next shot. Ken was very excited to see them down at his place in the woods.
...my camera had it's four birthday yesterday...there was a big party...no presents though...instead there were new family members so they were all up late..taking selfies...
So the question for my camera now is...to be or not to be...?

一つ見つけたら、近くに四つ葉がもっと見つかる事が多いそうです。

I had been wanted this shot for years since the spot looks like "Thors Well" during super high tide. But I had been skunked for several times due to the tide was not right or lights were in different direction. I was quite happy when all conditions were right in this Valentines sunrise. Have a nice weekend!
Four Winds Farm, owned by H.D. Shumate, apparently specializing in Suffolk Sheep. Lot's of information right on the barn, Gates Monroe County, WV.
As their name suggest, the four-spotted Chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata) is easily identified by the four black spots on both pairs of wings.
The species is observable in most part of the world, from western Europe to Japan, Morocco to Kamchatka and even in North America.
Its natural habitat consist of swallow stagnant bodies of water and slow flowing rivers with vegetated banks, up to an altitude of 2200m.
