fossil from Venezuela and pyrite from Peru

Anyone know exactly what this is?

Np1Img7Frond

A fossil of the Ediacaran organism Charniodiscus. This frond-like organism is believed to have stood erect in the water, above the sea floor. It was likely anchored into the sediment by a holdfast, which is not preserved in this specimen. The branches of this creature radiate out from its central stalk.

Found in North Wales. The amateur geologist who gave it to me said it was about 130 million years old.

Fossil Defender: DE 1527

Np1Img4SprigPutty

A putty cast of the fossil of the Ediacaran organism Spriggina floundersi. This species is segmented and elongate, with a “head” end and a “tail” end that look different from each other. The head-end has a U-shaped shield around it, and there is a central groove that runs along the length of the organism. Some scientists believe this fossil represents an animal, while other are not so sure. These fossils are only found in rocks in South Australia.

We have these fossils out in the field. Took this rock to a Archaeologist Dr. Lee Bement who came to town for a day to give a free screening and he told me that it was sea shells and that it dates back 300 million years ago.
