Even though I still have hundreds of photos from the German trip to post, I'm fast-forwarding to the end of that trip when I was planespotting at Dresden Airport for my flight home.

I was a bit amused how many fellow passengers were booked on that flight LH211 from Dresden to Frankfurt-am-Main. To my surprise, in due course, everyone did fit into the Canadian-built regional jet along with their luggage.

Based on this photo, I think I was the only planespotter on that flight!

In the summer of 2009, Meka, a female American Pit Bull, was rescued from her abusive owners. Shortly after she had three puppies - deKaf and Kahlua, two girls, and Kona, a boy.

These puppies are in the love and care of a foster working for Animals First Foundation, a Seattle (WA) based charity.

I spent two hours with these wonderful animals on Saturday 29th August 2009. Meka is an absolutely wonderful dog. She's suffered many horrible hardships, but her capacity for forgiveness has far outstripped this and she is incredibly friendly, gentle, and a wonderful mother. She is great with dogs & people. Her pups are ridiculously cute as the photos attest to. With the right attention, I'm excited about their prospects for a wonderful life.

The three pups are looking for new homes. Appreciate forwarding to anyone you think may be of help. Those interesting in adopting can email info@animalsfirstfoundation.org or visit the website http://www.animalsfirstfoundation.org

I sat in my 'control tower' at the end of a hard week at work. It had been busy through out but by yesterday morning the stress was mounting.

I had had a letter from my doctor's surgery (not that I know who my Doctor is) saying that I could no longer order my Repeat Prescription for a mild dose of stress relief tablets from my local pharmacy. I would have to organise them through my Doctor's Medical Centre. It said I could do them online. "Great!" So I got online. And it said I needed to register and get a password. "Damn". I rang the medical centre to ask how I registered and got a password. "Well, you have to come down here with ID and we then issue you with a Password, which takes a couple of days." "Aaargh! Don't you realise I have a job 20 miles away and I can't just float in and out of work when I feel like it? I'm not ill. I'm not off work". So I diverted through the morning rush hour traffic to go to the doctor's surgery before work and walked in with ID in the form of Passport and Driving Licence. "I'm sorry", said the receptionist," but we need a utilty bill as well, showing your address"......."Aaaarghhhh!" I can feel my blood pressure going up! "What was wrong with the old system?" She explained, "Too many people are ordering tablets and not using them, and it's a waste". But I said, " I get tablets because I know they are good for me. I'm not a hoarder. Why am I treated like a hoarder.... a waster?"

I'm stressed. Work is busy and pressurised. And I've just bought a house for my son and his wife and kids to live in until they can afford their own. And then my daughter bought a house at the same time and I thought it fair to give her the deposit for it. When asked about funds my daughter explained her Dad was giving her the deposit. So the solicitor asked if it was a loan or a gift. I said it was a loan because my daughter wanted to prove she was financially independent and would pay it back. "Ok" said the solicitor" I need confirmation it is an informal, inter family arrangement and that you will have no interest in the property. The mortgage company will need to know no other party has a financial claim on the property" Aw hell, I thought. "OK it is a gift" I reluctantly said, knowing that I have to keep a record of these things for tax reasons. "Right!" said the solicitor I need to know where that money is coming from, for money laundering reasons". Jeez, I thought, I'm already beginning to regret being generous. She's my daughter. I just gave it to her like I used to give her pocket money to buy sweets. No one ever asked me to prove she wasn't buying sweets on the back of money laundering. I explained I'm just in the process of buying another house too, so here's a copy of a statement showing that I have access to funds to cover all these amounts. Well, blow me down that was acceptable! Until they said they now needed proof of my ID. Aaaaaaarrrgh! You want me to come to your office in Crewe after 9.30 when you open to show my face and a Passport, at a time when I need to be in work at Manchester Airport? I refused. " No problem, " said the solicitor but I will have to charge you £ 1.80 to do an ID check online and £ 5.40 for an AML search. "Whaaaaaat? You even charge such petty amounts?" I couldn't believe it. Now the solicitor has emailed to ask me to send a copy of my Driving Licence, and as an afterthought has asked for my date of birth too, and I'm seriously beginning to think this is a wind up or the solicitor is bent and is aiming to hack my bank accounts. She says it is all required under Anti-Money Laundering Laws. But it's gone crazy. I'm not a thief, or a criminal. I'm not a drug dealer or a pimp. Why do Doctors and Solicitors assume I am a low-life until I can prove I am not? I'm just an ordinary, honest hard working tax payer. I must be in the minority. And therefore a mug.

At least back in my own little world of freight forwarding I can control things. I was surprised to answer the phone and find myself speaking to a lady who last called me nine months ago. She had told me she had a chronic intestinal illness that means she has to couple up to bags of a special fluid every day just to survive. Her son was getting married in Australia and she was desperate to fly out there for the occasion. But that meant taking a large amount of fluid with her at a cost of over £ 5500 just for the excess baggage one way. And if it didn't arrive within a day of her arriving she would die.

It turned out the supplier of these fluids is a worldwide company and they suggested they could make up her prescription in Australia so they could have a supply waiting there for her.

But when she rang me out of the blue yesterday it was to say she had been badly let down. She was flying to Australia on Monday morning and they just rang her to say they couldn't supply this fluid which is so critical to her living just another day.

And so began a day of working to provide a logistical solution for her. In reality it wasn't so complicated, but just more a matter of making sure every aspect was watertight. I must admit I got a huge amount of job satisfaction from helping her in her hour of need and she was generous with her thanks, but I said a photo of her enjoying her son's wedding was all the thanks we could possibly want. A picture really would be worth a thousand words.

I like our industry. I don't have to take any crap from any body. And in our business there really are people who can be trusted to go the extra mile to help someone without insisting on charging £ 1.80 for petty costs.

But the story with the solicitor didn't end there.

It gets better or worse. The Solicitor has now conducted "Bankruptcy" checks on me. Me, who bought a second house with cash and gave a cash gift to my daughter for her house deposit. (I'm sure the first sign of a Bankrupt is that they have significant sums of cash to hand)The check has found someone with the same name as me living in Newcastle upon Tyne, some 200 miles away who filed for bankruptcy in 2012. I now have to certify that that person is not me. Where will it end? I have now penned the following to my daughter's solicitor:

Dear Ms XXXX

I don't wish to sound rude so I am sending the toned down version.

I hate the expression, but are you sure you aren't having a laugh? I can't believe the cr@p I'm having to go through just because I gave my daughter a modest gift. I bought her a car many years ago that cost more than the gift I have given this time. Where was the Serious Fraud investigation into how I paid for the car? I just bought a second house with funds from the same source but I don't even remember having to prove my identity or where the money came from. With all these requests for proof of this and that I suspect my identity and background would have been less scrutinised if I had actually been convicted and sent to prison for stealing the money. I'm just glad you haven't demanded a strip search yet.

So you want written proof I'm not a bankrupt, to give to the mortgage lender, even though I have no involvement in the ownership of the property so that they can be sure that the money I gave as a gift to my daughter, and which you have already received, is available to be paid to them? But you also require proof I am not a bankrupt who magically found enough money to buy another house with cash and to make sure I am not a drug dealer, thief or pimp?

I don't even know who you are and that now you have received all this info on me, how do I know you are not planning to hack my accounts? Of course, I don't mean that, but surely you get my point. Is your company as careful to check that payments to your firm don't come from laundered monies?

And by the way that 'gift' to my daughter was also from my wife, with whom I share joint accounts. How do you know she isn't a stay at home 'Mom' who makes cakes and sells them to little children without declaring it to the tax man and then launders the cash by buying sausages and toilet rolls at Tesco? I note you haven't asked her to prove who she is. Is that an oversight, and now you will demand the same of her?

Come on, will this ever end? I've more important things to do than to regret helping my daughter out.

I'm not that bad! But you are driving me mad.

Best regards

MMM

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowknife_Airport:

Yellowknife Airport (IATA: YZF, ICAO: CYZF) is located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. The airport is part of the National Airports System, and is operated by the Government of the Northwest Territories. The airport has regular scheduled passenger service and a number of freight services. In 2007, the terminal handled 527,000 passengers.

In 2008 the airport's passenger terminal underwent an expansion to the departure/check-in section, roughly doubling the size of the terminal. The airport is classified as an airport of entry by Nav Canada and is staffed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). CBSA officers at this airport can handle general aviation aircraft only, with no more than 15 passengers.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) "G" Division maintains a hangar for its air section just south of the passenger terminal. It is adjacent to a hangar used by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) to house the CC-138 Twin Otter and other utility aircraft operated by 440 Transport Squadron, a subsidiary of 8 Wing.

Canadian NORAD Region Forward Operating Location Yellowknife is located south-west of the airstrip. It was built for forwarding deployment of the McDonnell Douglas CF-18 Hornet in times of conflict.

It was originally used by Gain Forwarding Co.Ltd Carriers which was based in Cumberland St in Dunedin, Otago. I've found advertising for the company as far back as 1923...back then it was a horse-drawn vehicle company, and it evolved into one the earliest trucking firms in Otago.

Many thanks to the owner, for showing me his large collection of old vehicles.

The good times are rolling for sure in NOLA when you get to chase a New Orleans Public Belt job through the heart of the French Quarter along the Mississippi riverfront.

What we see here is an NOPB crew aboard a pair of SD70Ms forwarding the hottest train in the terminal eastbound from the Union Pacific at East Bridge Jct. to the CSXT over in Gentilly. I don't recall the exact symbol at this date as I was no longer living or working in the area (was just back for a visit), but I believe it was still the ZCIAT (UP City of Industry, CA to CSXT Atlanta, GA). It ran from the Los Angeles basin across the entire length of the old Southern Pacific Sunset Route to be handed off to CSXT for forwarding to Atlanta via former Louisville and Nashville iron. On the head end of the train is a block of signature Tropicana Orange juice reefers headed back for loading with Florida's finest in Bradenton. Back in the day when I was running the show from the old MoPac Avondale we called this the Pacer Train account it was primarily containers for Pacer Stacktrain, whch was the successor to American President Line's pioneering domestic landbridge service that began in 1984 and was sold to Pacer in 1999. Pacer was later acquired by XPO logistics as the world of shipping and intermodal continued to evolve, and I understand today no interline intermodal moves through the gateway having been shifted to Memphis a few years back.

Back in my days here all other UP-CSXT traffic (approximately 10 trains each way daily) was directly interchanged between the two carriers and took the Norfolk Southern owned (old SOU) "Back Belt" from the Huey P. Long bridge at East Bridge Jct. through Metairie and past East City Jct., Frenchmen St. and NE Tower. This train, however, warranted the extra cost of paying NOPB to forward it across their route to avoid the congestion and expedite the train.

The historic preserved brewery here in the heart of the Vieux Carre (French Quarter) is now a shopping and restaurant destination, but from 1890 to 1974 was the Jackson Bohemian Brewery. The facility was actually served by a Southern Pacific local freight on an island of isolated trackage the SP owned on the east bank of the river dating from the pre bridge days prior to 1935 when they still floated trains across from Algiers to downtown. Today there is only the single NOPB main and the double tracks of the waterfront streetcar line but back then this area was a tangled web of tracks belonging to multiple class 1s when this area was still a working waterfront of warehouses and longshoring operations.

I called the New Orleans area home from 2000 to 2005 where I spent one year working for the NS at Oliver Yard and four for the UP in Avondale. That was a time in my life I will forever be grateful for and it seems like a lifetime ago...

I could write so much more about the city and the railroad operations that make it a truly great railfan destination. Anyone up for a trip to shoot trains all day, eat some of the best food on the planet, catch some Jazz over in the Marigny, and then drink the night away? Oh I dream...

Even though I still have hundreds of photos from the German trip to post, I'm fast-forwarding to the end of that trip when I was planespotting at Dresden Airport for my flight home.

Ironically, THIS WAS the flight that I really wished to get on. I had wanted to fly an Air Canada/ Swiss combo flight Toronto - Zurich - Hamburg/ Dresden - Zurich - Montreal - Toronto. Alas, but that particular flight routing was un-affordably expensive, so I ended up doing Toronto - Brussels - Hamburg/ Dresden - Frankfurt-am-Main - Toronto. Still, at Dresden Airport, I was delighted to see the Swiss flight that I had wanted to be on!

A brief summary of this pioneering UK-Middle East haulier can be found on the website of its successor Astran Worldwide Shipping (AWS):

"Astran has delivered consignments to all corners of the globe for over 50 years. A hugely respected, highly reliable and well known freight forwarding and transportation operation based in the South East of England, it prides itself on offering exceptional customer service for every customer's consignment, small, medium or large. Astran was the first UK Company to operate long distance road freight to the Middle East. The pioneering delivery by truck to Afghanistan was undertaken back in 1964 by the two founders of Asian Transport, later to become known as Astran. Adding the Gulf States, and Qatar in particular, to its regular destinations, Astran grew in stature in the early days of oil and gas discovery, servicing the UK plus the European and Asian Continents".

Like most of its contemporaries on the Middle East Run, Astran favoured Scanias and Volvos but this fictional DAF would probably not have been out of place. Thanks to Martin Vonk for the base image (28-Mar-16).

The setting sun on this Southern Pacific westbound mixed freight nearing the end of the Rock Island trackage at Tumcumcari, New Mexico, is the prefect example as to why the Rock would give its premier train such a grand name. Addressed to: Harvey = Bailey And Com / Ashcroft P=O / B.C.

Harvey, Bailey and Company was a general merchandise company and forwarding agent in Ashcroft, B.C. The company was established in 1886 by William B. Bailey and Oliver Harvey. Bailey also acted as postmaster in the "store" post office and operated William B. Bailey and Company, a storage and forwarding agency serving the Cariboo. A Harvey, Bailey and Company operation was also established in Enderby, B.C. In 1909, the two founders of the company retired and the business was carried on by members of the Bailey family.

GANG RANCH - to PMG - 17th May 1895 - I have the honor to make the following report for the establishment of a new Post Office in the Electoral Division of Cariboo.

1) Proposed Site: Not surveyed (at the headquarters of the Western Canadian Ranching Co. Ltd.)

2) Proposed Name: "GANG RANCH"

3) Proposed Postmaster: T.M. Graves

4) Neighbouring Post Offices: Empire Valley - 6 miles South, Dog Creek - 12 miles East.

5) Number of Families etc.: One and about 70 men employed in various duties by the Ranching Co.

Memo: Since the establishment of the headquarters of the Western Canadian Ranching Company at the "Gang Ranch", the circumstances of this locality as well as Empire Valley, has quite changed, all the population of the immediate District being employed at the Gang Ranch. The settlers at Empire Valley, are now very few and the Postmaster's family are about the only permanent ones. The establishment of a Post Office at Gang Ranch will not require the continuance of the office at Empire Valley and the Ranching Company have already a courier employed to carry their correspondence to and from Dog Creek. The present service between Dog Creek and Empire Valley does not provide the same convenience as that maintained by the Ranching Company and it is suggested that in the event of the establishment of a Post Office at Gang Ranch, that the office at Empire Valley be closed. E.H. Fletcher / Post Office Inspector.

Above is a CGI rendering based on the long range Sd.Kfz.251/3 Ausf. D, photographed top right. This Funkpanzerwagen identified by Hans Weber as organic to 2./SS-Pz.Nachr.Abt.1. was assigned to Kampfgruppe Peiper during the Ardennes Offensive, in December 1944. The photo was taken in La Gleize after KG Peiper was destroyed. The vehicle mounts a telescopic mast, aka KM9 Kurbelmast, normally associated with the Fu 11 SE 100 used in a Divisionsfunkstelle (radio vehicle used for divisional liaison). Sd.Kfz.251/3 with Fu 11 have been however correlated with use of the KM9 Kurbelmast plus a Rahmenantenna (frame antenna). The vehicle illustrated however uses a KM9 without Rahmenantenne, but has an internally mounted Sternantennefuss (mount for star antenna type d) associated with both Fu 4 and Fu 8 radios. Based on other egs, this vehicle probably also had a 1.4 metre Stabantenne on a late-style externally mounted Stabantennefuss on the upper left hull side, usually used with the common Fu.Spr.Ger.F radio.

The photo below left shows a somewhat similarly configured Sd.Kfz.251/3 of Panzer Brigade.106. pictured north of Remagen, in March 1945. It has a KM9 Kurbelmast on the left rear, but this Funkpanzerwagen instead has an antenna mounted externally on the right rear, without the usual box armour.

It will have a long lasting effect for mankind and go a long way in carry forwarding the nature to the next generation and will also give fruits useful for birds.

One of the major reasons why we need to work towards protecting the environment is because it helps to protect humanity. If we didn’t have our environment, then we wouldn’t have a place to live or resources to live.it is our moral obligation to do so. Planting of trees in a special occasion such as Birthday Wedding etc is a excellent gesture. It can be done in memory of our Parents, Teachers, Friends and also people who comes across in our life such as Doctors Nurses and health staff for their noble service to the society

I dont remember all the details but this was a Iowa Pacific special that ran down the CN from Chicago for handoff to the INRD at Newton, IL for forwarding to Indy. The train was powered by a attractive black widow E9A and is seen on CN branchline east of Effingham, IL on Feb 15th 2012.

The Federal Detention Center, Miami (FDC Miami) is a prison operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). It is located in Downtown Miami, at the corner of Northeast Fourth Street and North Miami Avenue.

Built in 1995, the detention center was designed for a capacity of 1,259 inmates. The facility primarily houses prisoners of the U.S. Marshals Service, both male and female. Its mission is to provide a safe and humane confinement of inmates and detainees, many of whom are involved in federal court proceedings in the Southern District of Florida.

Inmates are screened by a unit team member, and assigned quarters based on personal profile and security needs. Each unit team is composed of a unit manager, case manager(s), correctional counselor(s), and at times, an education representative. A federal register number is assigned to each inmate for identification and forwarding of correspondence while in federal custody.

In June 2010, the facility's security procedures prevented attorney Brittney Horstman from meeting a client when her underwire bra set off a metal detector. After returning from a bathroom without the item, she was turned away because of the detention center's dress code. The federal public defender's office contacted Warden Linda McGrew, who conducted an inquiry. McGrew concluded the incident was "an aberration" and promised it would not happen again.

According to a 2005 U.S. Department of Justice report, an estimated 12 percent of the complaints received by the department's inspector general involved inmates claiming sexual victimization by prison staff. In 2009, federal judge Cecilia Altonaga wrote that although the statute of limitations had passed to award damages in a civil case, "the BOP and FDC Miami did have notice of the illegal conduct taking place and were woefully deficient in addressing it."

The prison is located in downtown Miami, at the corner of Northeast Fourth Street and North Miami Avenue. In 2021, a luxury apartment complex called "Downtown 5th" had been built opposite the prison on what was previously a parking lot.

Hello all fellow readers and hopefully new ones! ♥ It is April Fools Day but there's not fooling here! I have a special treat this time since I used a remix to make this video. So instead of one song, this video will feature THREE songs! I really love how the dances go with them so nicely. Mind, you these dances are definitely not short. But this time I was able to fit a preview of ALL the dances. Some might be short but you'll get to see how the dances really go with the song. No fast forwarding or slowing down. All exact speeds so you can expect to see the same when you try them out! The event opens TODAY! So expect some hardships getting in the first hours.

I also came across a really good DJ that I must give him his props because if it wasn't for his mix, I wouldn't have known all the songs that these dances can go with. If you haven't heard of him before, his name is OSOCITY. And I'll be linking to the actual youtube link here. Very good mixes.

Hopefully you enjoy these videos as well as these dances. Enjoy the start of Spring officially here with April! Happy shopping and dancing. ♥

DB Cargo class 66 loco 66020 hurries along the sea wall at Dawlish on the evening of Thursday 6th September with just two JIA china clay slurry hoppers in tow working 6C53 from St Blazey to Exeter riverside yard for forwarding on to Bescot.

I had wished to be further along the sea wall and a quick look at realtime trains suggested I had enough time but then the working made up loads of time and was running early.

I heard something coming through Kennaway tunnel turned around and this appeared.

Went to the world famous Vedanthangal bird sanctuary in Chengalpet Tamilnadu, India, and got some nice shots. Let us pass on the spirit of saving Nature to our future generations. Plant more Banyan trees as they sustain many lives. Thanks. Instagram Id :- @nagendran_c4777 – 04-03-2025.
