Carr Forge Dam is a dam located in the centre of the reserve. The dam dates back to the Tudor dynasty, and most of the brickwork still remains. The dam is now mainly used as a wildlife pond, with toads, frogs and other species including the endangered Great Crested Newt breeding in the marshes.
A scene from my first trip to Valley Forge National Park. Such a beautiful area, especially at the peak of autumn colors. This is a reminder of warmer days.

Back down "The Forges" for a walk today. Have taken this scene in the autumn, thought it might look ok in the winter.

Bedeutungen:
man sollte schnell handeln, denn sonst könnte es zu spät sein.
Herkunft:
In der Antike, wie auch im Mittelalter und der Moderne war und ist Eisen ein häufig verwendetes Material zum Schmieden.
Es kann nur verformt werden, solange es heiß und somit auch weich genug ist, ansonsten bricht es eher, als dass es verformt wird.
In der Politik sollte man diese Formel noch mal bedenken. Seitdem unsere Stahlwerke in den 70er und 80er Jahren demontiert und nach China verkauft wurden, ist dieser Gedanke verloren gegangen.

Origin:
In ancient times, as well as in the Middle Ages and modern times, iron was and is a frequently used material for forging.
It can only be deformed as long as it is hot and therefore soft enough, otherwise it will break rather than be deformed.
In politics, this formula should be reconsidered. Ever since our steel mills were dismantled and sold to China in the 1970s and 1980s, that thought has been lost.
Are you experiencing the same? Just when I started going back to my usual routine on weekends, weather is again not cooperating! On this hazy Pittsburg morning I had one of those moments when nothing was looking promising but I still got out and just when I wanted to fold, this happens. Lesson learned. What do you think?

Ightham is a parish and village in Kent, England, located approximately four miles east of Sevenoaks and six miles north of Tonbridge. The parish includes the hamlet of Ivy Hatch.
Ightham is famous for the nearby medieval manor of Ightham Mote (National Trust), although the village itself is of greater antiquity. Old Forge House, Skynners, was built by 1555 as Valentine Skynner was fined 10d for his house encroaching on the highway in that year. The right half became a blacksmiths and has a 19th-century gabled extension to the right and a wing to the rear. The left house became Daedalus Arms, an inn. George Wright was a builder and grocer during the 1871 census and his wife was a shopkeeper and innkeeper. Between the wars it was a garage and now the whole property is called Old Forge House.

Finch Foundry is a 19th-century water-powered forge situated in the village of Sticklepath near Okehampton, Devon, England. It was originally used to produce agricultural and mining hand tools and at its peak produced around 400 edge-tools a day. It remained an active foundry until 1960 when the roof collapsed and has been a National Trust property since 1994. It contains examples of a tilt hammer, drop hammer, and shear hammer all powered by water wheels. The Trust maintains the forge in working order and demonstrations of the tools are given.

This timber framed building in the village of Smarden in Kent dates from the 17th century and is possibly even older. It was originally the village forge but is now a private residence and a listed building.
The craft of the blacksmith dates back several thousand years and there was a time when almost every village in the country would have a forge. The blacksmiths skills were highly valued as he was able to make and repair most metal objects in day to day use.
