Following a winding woodland path that disappears into a stand of tall, leafless trees, and looking down on the forest floor found this fallen tree trunk and nature reclaiming the ground it once covered. The soft autumn light and muted colours create a moody, contemplative scene, evoking a sense of quiet solitude and seasonal transition.
A lush, emerald embrace of moss-covered branches in the enchanted Anaga forest, Tenerife. Nature’s artistry thrives in this ancient laurel forest, where time seems to stand still.
Superior Hiking Trail, Minnesota - slightly north of Duluth.
A closer look - upon further inspection, it appeared to be an abode for something, or at least I would like to think that something is or was temporary living under the tent of this leaf.

The path around Haslimoos is often used by horseback riders. They always treat other forest visitors with kindness and consideration. This is probably because not all walkers are used to horses—especially when the animals pass right next to a pedestrian.
Evening light in the forest is amazing! Here, just enough sneaks through the canopy to light up this wild lupin, and some of the surrounding leaf litter.

Although this appears to be a sunset it was in fact shot around 2:00pm.
The orange glow is the result of thick forest fire smoke.
I went to the redwoods today because I needed some inspiration and I always feel the amazing power of God when in the forest surrounded by almost-too-big redwood trees.

Never thought I’d have a favorite tree, but here we are. I’ve used this scene many times to try out new things and I’m quite happy with this outcome.

SOOC. Is it a flower? Is it a weed? I have no idea. I'm just impressed that it was still alive in mid-November in Chicago. I wasn't planning on uploading this shot until I saw the bokeh...
Mystery solved! ForestPath (see comment below) has identified this as Butter and Eggs Toadflax (Linaria Vulgaris). Sounds tasty but I don't think I'll test my luck. Thank you Mary!

I have never had quite as much trouble editing a forest shot as this one, but I loved the boardwalk so much that I was convinced I could make it work. Everything went wrong: the mid-afternoon light was already patchy, some of the highlights on the leaves were blown, the boardwalk had a dingy yellow-green hue, and even tonemapping 5 TIFFs of the same image in Photomatix didn't help that much. But eventually I came up with something that captured how I remember the scene in my head rather than what came out on camera.
Forest Viewpoint Zdroje/Springs (concrete fire tower). Fire-control observation point is 32 meters high (about 500 meters to the Napoleonic Track, near a forester lodge in Plawiska). The forest look-out is well equipped for surveillance with a telescope. Now the Sierakow Landscape Park is within view of the platform located at 25 meters available to the tourist trade. From this vantage point you could see a frontal moraine on the visible horizon, glass works in Sierakow, Lake Forest Pond, and a side rough road from Lichwin (red biking trail: Lichwin-French Mountains stretch), visible to the naked eye.
