It did really look like Aiko should lead the orchestra, I bet deers, elks, birds, lynx and hares were gathered in the light😊
Caught this moment on the trail at Hanging Rock State Park where summer was just beginning to let go. One tree had already turned, blazing gold and amber against the still-green canopy — like a single voice singing ahead of the chorus. The slanted morning light cutting through the slope made the whole forest feel alive and glowing.
There's something about that in-between season that I can never resist. 📷
With a cool but sunny day predicted, yesterday was a perfect time to head out for a longer hike to complete a section of trail on the "to do list." For me, it's also a great way to be mindful - far more interesting than meditation. Having tried the latter for a few months, I would either start to fall asleep or had all my brain's neurons firing at once. With hiking, one has to consider a partner, think about your physical limits, look where you're going, plan where to step, plant trekking poles for balance, and check out the flora and fauna. There really is no room for distraction - and thankfully, it was early enough in the season not to be tormented by hordes of vampire mosquitoes.

There's not a lot of understorey in the Japanese Cedar forests of the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Trail. Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.
The plants that do grow on the dark forest floor tend to be small and with broad leaves like this specimen of what must be Ampelopsis arborea or Pepper Vine.

I saw this scene while driving up to Inspiration Point, with the road pointing to the peak of the bluff, I realized this is a natural setting. A perfect leading line to this magnificent bluff view. Colorful layers of rock amplified by the harsh winter sunlight. Long shadows from the low sunlight creates dark stripes across the gravel road while the naked trees stand asleep on both sides of the road.

I've never met a person here, on this precious spot.
I've seen some random bicycle tracks, but not on my watch 😊
Aiko cherish it too and always jumps over the log and finds himself a stick to chew on, the best he knows of
He is there now, if you look closely 😋
While I'm sitting on a rock and just feel my soul being cleansed. 🙏

Sometimes we wish and wish
We want changes to happen
We don't always see what we can do ourselves to make the changes
Sometimes we are too close to ourselves and our stuff to actually see
Taking a timeout is always helpful
Letting the thoughts freely out
No filters
No thoughts are wrong
Trying to see the patterns in our behaviour
Questioning, is it really my pattern or is it a learned pattern
Learned pattern from the past
We are done with the troubles in the past
Future is what we want, light and joy
Finding out that the learned patterns are not yours can make you quite relieved
Put it in the bin and be done with it
Sometimes you find that a behaviour you dislike in others is also a behaviour you have
Deal with it
Don't put it under a rug
Accept it or not
We do have sides in our personality that are not so flattering, accepting that we are not "perfect" can be a great step
You are perfect in what you are, who you are
You just need to accept the different sides of your personality
If not accepting it - work your way through it so it is not an obstacle in your life anymore
Strolling along in nature
Hearing the birds sing
Listening to the wind
Listening to a little stream which is making its lovely sound
Looking at it all, seeing its beauty
Shoulders down and let thoughts come and go, especially them you need to dwell upon
Forestbathing is a "thing" - I love forest and open fields, beaches and mountains
Seeing the beauty in things around us
Llifting up our heads and take it all in
It is quite something
We are alive and living this life, let us do the most of it
Let us find the light - it is within us
Not out there
Within
Right beside the grave of Gustav Weindorfer was this delightful little garden.
I'm yet to get a positive ID on this spiky little moss amongst last season's Fagus leaves. It is possibly Polytrichastrum formosum or Haircap.
The beautifully corrugated red-gold leaves are from Tasmania's endemic Gondwana relic - Nothofagus gunnii. The Fagus is Australia's only deciduous tree. It is much loved by Tasmanian walkers.
Austrian born Gustav Weindorfer (23 February 1874 – 5 May 1932) was almost single-handedly responsible for the establishment of the World Heritage listed, Cradle Mountain - Lake StClair National Park. The park receives thousands of visitors per year who come to marvel at and experience the remarkable landscape of this little island.
Gustav is buried near Waldheim, the chalet he built as his home and to also host visitors to the valley. May he rest in peace.

Once Round Spring water emerges from deep in the earths boughs, its crystal clear spring water slowly makes it way to the Current River. Along the way are spots to sit and let the flow of the river overwhelm your senses.
soaking in the forest . . .for rest . . .
a place for body, soul, mind and spirit to recharge . . . .
breath in . . .breath out . . . .repeat . . .
In this forest there is always green moss, lots of it. The spruce trees act like a giant roof and only let a bit of snow to come down, unless it is coming loads of snow ofc.
The green color is awesome to look at and I really think that this color is good for you ❤
I'm always stopping here and breathe, mmmmmmmmmm 💚🌱🍀🍃💚
Be kind to the earth today. If you can, leave the car at home, and walk, cycle, or take public transit. Also a good day to enjoy some forest bathing.
The Kumano Kodo UNESCO Heritage Trail passes through innumerable stands of beautifully tall arrow-straight cedars with a delightful range of under-storey foliage.
While the forests are managed, they still evoke a primal sense of awe to be among such beautiful trees. We passed through in autumn but the colours were unseasonably late - a common story in the modern age.
This small section of path is between Takahara and the Gyubadoji-guchi bus stop and passes close by the former home of legendary strongman, Jujo Akushiro.
An inexplicable fact is that this is the best shot of this bit of forest - and it's with the phone! I did shoot some video on the phone as well but it doesn't translate to flickr at all well.

Gla Forest is a nature reserve, which covers 28000 hectares, and an area with beautiful natural environments and approximately 80 lakes. It´s not virgin forests, modern forestry is also practiced. Gla Forest has hiking routes of various lengths spanning tens of kilometers. The routes are dotted with windbreaks and overnight cabins. For canoeing enthusiasts there are excellent canoe routes across several of the lakes. The area also has many cycling routes.

What else could you call this weathered bunion, but Inspiration Point. The panoramic field of view, the strip of mauve just above the horizon. The patches of water below reflecting the sinking sun. Big Muddy River meandering in the flood plain seeking its connection to the Mississippi River. This is the earth that was given to us to appreciate and enjoy.
