This is a version of Turndust, an artist's book project I am currently working on. This is an early stage 'storyboard' version. I've posted it because I am interested in seing if I can use community on Flickr to add something to the design process. What do you think of it? What could be improved? What's good? What does it make you think about?
I'm planning to develop the book for screenprint in one or two colours with hand colouring in watercolour, so each book will be a little different, although still part of an edition. I plan to include new versions and working-up on Flickr as I go along.
Since this book is intended as a narrative, it's best read from beginning to end. I recommend looking at the set.

Apparently I have my AM and PM settings reversed on my little point and shoot. It says I took this shot last night, but I actually took it this morning. Now for the real challenge of the day...figuring out the menu in a foolproof camera.
They have a HAL 9000 computer at the Carnegie Science Center. This thing's at least 30 years old, turned on in 1992 over in Urbana, Illinois (and sent on a space expedition 9 years later). I don't know when they added the DOS console that says it's foolproof and incapable of error.

basically just egg yolk, tsp water, tsp lemon, pinch salt in a jar. then put the wand in, turn it on, and slowly pour in a melted stick of butter.
make sure butter is hot enough to cook egg. possibly try a bit more lemon.

So, I have three Zeniths, one silver and two black. I know I loaded a film into one of the blacks but it was months ago - can I remember which one has the film in? There is no visible film indicator, only a counter that you set manually when you load the film and clicks up one every time you wind the film on. I know I didn't take many shots after loading the film and one camera says 2 shots used and the other says 5. What would you do?
So after opening the one I thought didn't have film in it I'd solved the problem. But, after a while, this nagging doubt crept in, was I sure there was a film in the other one? I'm planning on running the film off on some college work, what if I take the photographs and then find out there wasn't a film in the camera?
So I opened it! I'll never know what the two shots were of but at least the rest of the film is still usable. Moral of the story - when you have two cameras that look alike stick something on the one with the film in - F for Film, or Foolproof, or...
(And I know it's the one with the case on it but that only works if you remember if it had a case on it when you load the film)
