Until relatively recently attributed to Rembrandt, this work is now thought to be a work of an early, perhaps contemporary, follower of Rembrandt. The artist has imitated the style of Rembrandt's early years (1625-31) when he worked in his native Leiden, a style characterised by the precise treatment of detail and strong contrasts between light and dark. Rembrandt only painted this kind of subject in his early years in Leiden. However, this painting is significantly different in composition and technique from Rembrandt's work of that period. Moreover, the draughtsmanship is considered to be too heavy-handed and the volumes too ill-defined for the painting to be by Rembrandt. This picture was probably painted in Leiden in the late 1620s.

The first Lego model for my 500th Instagram follower Back2Brick.

Back2Brick likes Concept Cars, notably BMWs, and this is the first model that I have completed.

“CSL” stands for “Coupé Sport Leichtbau” (coupé, sport, lightweight). With its aluminium bonnet, boot and wings, Plexiglas windows and equipment rigorously pared down to the bare essentials, the old BMW 3.0 CSL tipped the scales around 200 kg lighter than its sibling model, the BMW 3.0 CS. Unsurprisingly, then, it was predestined for a career on the race track. Whereas the material of choice in the 1970s was aluminium, today carbon fibre – or carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) – offers the optimum weight-to-strength ratio. These high-strength fibres are even lighter and stronger than aluminium.

The BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage is a vision of pure athleticism: the elongated body is set off by distinctive air deflectors, powerful wheel arches and prominent spoilers to the roof and tail. Despite its size, the aerodynamic elements are key in enabling air to flow optimally along the sides of the vehicle. The front air deflector serves to vent the engine compartment, while wings over the rear wheels ensure optimum airflow around the vehicle.

Back2Brick also likes Teslas.

Both models have been created such that they can be brick-built. Back2Brick will be able to build his own from the LDD files I will be sending through.

As a small thank you to getting my 500th follower, here's a little kit of mine in honour of my Lego Ideas Project.

This weekend I got my 200th follower. I wanted to thank you all for your support, kind comments, and donations. Here's to another 200. :)

I saw this chap on my travels and had to stop twice to admire his outfit. If only I had the guts to wear a similar shirt/tie/braces combo....

You thought I forgot it and threw in my bin? Heck no, and I'm going to reveal what this is about.

This mosaic that you're watching now is a retro-style interpretation of some of my followers' icon, and all of that done by me. Of course, it takes time to make an icon (especially if you're bad at drawings like me). I already have done 4 icon out of 36 and 3 others are still in the works. Who knows who's gonna be in, I think some of you have an idea or even your icon already in!

Just keep in mind that these icons are gifts, not a game of luck. It only features people that are great supporters and people that I also admire for their work. I hope it's enough clear to you =).

Followers of fox hunting, having found an ideal spot from which to follow the Hunt's progress, are seated to watch the day's 'sport'.

Frequent followers may remember, I was interviewed and photographed by Swedish magazine journalists at Paul's Junkyard, around New Years. The story, in "Kamera & Bild" (Camera & Image) is now on newsstands all over Sweden. Here is a link to a PDF of the entire article: designshed.com/samplestuff/kamera.and.bild.pdf The sprawling 10-pager is unlike any past magazine piece about my photography, with pictures of me working, my (ghetto) equipment as well as some images shot that night. I got the cover too!

Unfortunately for me, it's written in Swedish! I've pasted all the text into the google translator with some terrific results. Looks like the title is "Lighting in Death's Waiting Room." Wow, heavy! Here are a few favorite quotes lifted straight from the translator:

Hey everybody!

If you've been a follower of my work then you'll probably have realised by now that I'm fairly inactive. Well, I think I might finally call it quits for good now.

This is F33-X, the first prototype of the F33-type mecha. I've been meaning to make this guy for a while, having it bear similar characteristics to F33-X2 and F33-X3. A suitable way to finish my MOCing career I think :)

I might still pop around though! Thankyou for all those who appreciated my work and kept me going, it's been great knowing you all on here. Stay fresh, everyone :)
