March 16th, Linda K. Johnson performed a movement piece entitled Fold, and Fold and Fold, the work included performers Claire Barrera, Rebecca Harrison, Augden Hayes, Kelly Rauer, Linda and Maria Inocencio.
I held a series of three sessions at KPF NY demonstrating severals ways to transform a flat single sheet of paper into a complex form. I demonstrated folds that used both standard origami techniques (square paper, no cutting) and more modern approaches (laser-cut and -scored curves). The square forms date back to the Bauhaus movement and I was inspired by the work I did for Erik and Marty Demaine when choosing the shapes of the curved forms. Special thanks also to Alex Soijka who helped with the video.

Recycled copper sheet fold formed and textured, scrap silver was balled and soldered to the end of the bail wires all finished off with a hand crafted chain.
This is the hinged wheel chock in the open position. The strap is either polyester or nylon, and held in place with rivets.
The carpet on the top and bottom was to make it look nice when in storage, and would help prevent any sliding when in actual use.
I managed to fit the thing to a reasonable degree of precision, such that it naturally stayed closed, but would open easily when pulled apart.
As fate would have it, I discovered cheap Chinese imports that were totally metallic not long after my "invention."
Folded from a 35 cm square of tant paper, which is too thin, I've discovered. Well, too thin for me.
