A cute little jumping spider that I photographed at Lake Waterford Park in Maryland on 6/19/23.

...just kidding. It's a souvenir brought home from our visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, last fall.

“In modern usage, the term “placket” often refers to the double layers of fabric that hold the buttons and buttonholes in a shirt," according to Wikipedia. In the case of this old favorite shirt of mine, this button and buttonhole still work to hold the shirt together, but the top layer of fabric in the placket is worn out.

I actually took this shot for this week’s Macro Mondays “Pair” theme, because a button and buttonhole are “a set of two things used together as a unit.” But it looks as though I misinterpreted the theme, as the group seems to be looking for an image of “two identical objects.”

So here's the image anyway. I had to look up the word “placket,” so I learned a new word today. And yes, I still wear this old shirt around the house, as it’s all cotton and still very soft and comfy. :-)

Repost 24.2.2018 for SoS

Un pequeño apilado de campo, con la olympus omd-em1 en 20 disparos a 1/13, F6.3 e iso 200.

Every time that I see one of these tiny (about 3mm long) leafhopper nymphs, they remind me of shrimps. This one refused to cooperate, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos from the side or front. I kind of like this detailed shot of it's little tail though. Photographed in Maryland on 6/20/23.

Macro Mondays 21.1.2019 "Damaged plants"

Does anyone know what plant these pieces are made of?

The width of one stalk is <2cm, they are hard and look and feel woody.

These pieces are glued on a little ball to be a decoration ball with a diameter of ~10 cm
