My 2023 spinning fibre advent calendar. There's over 2Kg of fibre - enough to spin up for a decent garment or two
Dandelions are the scourge of a lawn, but one cannot help but appreciate their beauty once they go to seed.
A little fluff (an eider duckling) fell out of moms wings that were tucked around all her small babies.
Auntie eider came to rescue and stopped the small one from falling down from moms protective care.
Auntie eider stepped up and sat down behind mom, so she became a wall where the babies were all jammed in their mom - so cute to watch! ❤️

I will miss the White Wagtail all Autumn and Winter. It was the friendliest bird of all; I could easily name it the easiest bird to photograph (excluding Sparrows or Ravens).
Rietvlei Nature Reserve is open to private vehicles and offers superb sightings of the wildlife of the South African highveld. There is a bird hide and an area set aside for picnics at Marais Dam upstream from Rietvlei Dam and there are day and overnight hiking trails and horse trails (all accompanied by reserve staff). There is also a fishing area/camping site along part of the banks of Rietvlei Dam.
Our stop for lunch at La Gordina was amazing! They had feeders all along the windows and the hummingbirds put on quite a show.
With Summer drying up every drop of moisture from my garden , i still find this wildbloom looking its best on a gorgeous bokeh of Green!

phosphor bronze, dandelion clocks, LEDs, PCBs.
LED bulbs give off virtually no heat. Studio Drift used this property to combine
technology and nature poetically. Real dandelion clocks are fastened as filters
on the LED bulbs. A normal bulb would immediately scorch the fluff.
Here it produces a delicate play of light.
One morning as the photo assist dog and I were out for our walk, this hummingbird flew in front of us, around us and all around a tree. It seemed to be showing off the bit of fluff in her beak. I thought nesting season was mostly over here in the Bay area, but maybe she was lining a nest.
She's within the overhang of a tree, thus the muted greens in back. This was the only shot that came out that morning, as she kept moving in random directions, and the photo assist dog was doing her best to try to trip me up!
Fynnie the fluff is still my number one photo model although I post quite a lot of photos of Linus these days. Nobody poses better than Fynn does. He ususally wants to please me and looks directly at the camera and therefore this kind of photo is easy to get. It's more difficult to take profile shots or to capture his natural behaviour. Such photos always require a distraction of some kind. :)

Fynn dozes on a blanket on the sofa. There are not many options these days as the weather is horrible, still very wet and windy. I'm sure he dreams of sunshine .... and bugs.
No point wasting this last shot of a Magpie Goose gosling. Desperately hoping that it will, one day, be a beautiful swan!

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A fluffy faux fur coat that caught my eye for this shot - fur coats and huge scarves have been a bit of a running theme this winter. Roll on summer!
