When the flowers have finished blooming and the seeds are released, these little songbirds quickly know where to find them. They eat as much as they can to strengthen themselves for the annual migration to the warmer south.

The Flower Fields is a flower garden found on the Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California. The fields are open to the public once a year in spring from March 1 through May 10.

The flower fields are in bloom! Swung by after the school drop off and snapped this one from the road above.

Acres of Ranuculus flowers are planted yearly in the town of Carlsbad. Such a beautiful display of colors brings delight and joy to many!

Spring-like weather comes early here in Southern California. That means the flower fields have started to bloom. That means that the harvesting work has begun. While most of the flowers are used for seed production, some are cut for sale- a hard, labor intensive job. This shot is part of a series I'm doing on the workers entitled "Working the Fields.
