There is NOTHING BETTER than watching the lady making up the Candy Floss - you can hardly smell it as the hot dogs usually drown it out with that wretched sweaty onion stench ! But - when you walk away from the Food Stall - you can smell that lovely scent of Candy Floss. 'Ready Made' Candy Floss that you buy in those bags has NOTHING on the freshly made stuff !

Floss silk trees (Ceiba speciosa) have bulbous trunks covered in thorns, and when their fruits explode, this stuff comes out. It's like something from a Dr. Seuss book.

Chorisia speciosa Native to Tropical America, the tree was once a source for kapok used for padding or stuffing.Related to Kapok Tree Ceiba This is a 25' JUVENILE that still has the extremely thorny trunk. When I stopped to take a photo, the elderly couple said they had a young one for sale - zip to the ATM for cash! Corpus Christi, Texas. Oct. 2009.
Chorisia speciosa has since been re-classified to the present Ceiba speciosa. The Family has since been re-classified from Bombacaceae to Malvaceae
