A tail piece of the replica of the Wright Brother's plane used to make one of the first flights.
I put a small filter on it in order to make it look rustic and to hopefully bring out more details in the artifact. I loved touring the museum where I saw this in Dayton, OH and will hopefully travel there again in the future! :)

protective fences in the Scottish Cairngorms keeping all sorts of wildlife away from newly planted trees I guess.

I took this shot with HFF Happy Flippin' Fence Fridays in mind but come Friday I couldn't be bothered. What is it with harebells? They constantly bobble about on the wind but they're pretty. And remind me of a pair of chorduroy trousers of almost exactly the same colour I had in the 1970's. Hmmm. Hard to imagine. But it was a harsh environment in Caithness. And we needed to something to brighten our lives. With such a sparse population you didn't get seen wearing them by too many people either.

I created this picture first for pancake day but was unsure of it so created another one which I liked better so uploaded it for Pancake day instead, but later on looking at this picture I liked it better now than yesterday so thought I might as well upload this one too. I added the pan and pancakes to this picture to make it a pancake day picture (taken from previous pancake day pictures). What I was unsure of was the pancakes on top of the cooker I wasn't sure they looked right. This was actually taken of the head of Asha from a picture I had of her balancing pancakes on her head called 'The head pancake stacker'...lol. Hope it works for a pancake day picture...
I shot about fifty of these..I'll spare you and move onto something else. It really was an incredible sight and the sounds the glaciers make are awesome.

So... The plan was to go shoot a bunch of Bearded reedlings in the sun at Westhay today, but I had to work (Booooo). By the time I got there the Beardies had all cleared off and the sun had gone in. So I had to make do with the flippin' Kingfishers again, how tedious I hear you cry.
Anyway, after having put up with this flippin' bird sitting on a bloomin' fence post right under nose for hours, it did eventually go and sit on a twig and I managed a couple of 'nice' shots...

a bit unsure what the snack du jour is - a small walleye maybe
Don't ask me how a flippin' great chunk of brick wall ended up in the middle of the beach 'cos I have no idea! However it got there, it made for some decent foreground interest.
I've photographed this gorgeous guy several times. Today I had to do .. strange .. things to get that background the way I wanted it :-)
