Westham Innovations, in cooperation with Kansas State University, has researched and developed a home and outdoor flea trap for retail use.
As with all of our other pest control products, the main challenge was to create an effective device that will serve its purpose with full force while being environmentally safe & friendly. We remember that our products go into houses and are used near people and their beloved pets.
After study and testing of many methods, the joint effort has produced an environmentally safe, brightly designed, effective trap, brand-named: myFleaTrap.
A flea market had set up outside of our hostel and we watched while we waited for our walking guide to turn up. This family appeared to live in their vehicle and had array of things up for sale.
I had so much fun felting with my talented felt friend Birgit Nurtsch and with her daughter's Montessori school in Sünching Germany.
We told the fun story; Im Land der Flöhe by Beatrice Alemagna, both in German and English.
Birgit even performed her own song with her guitar to go along with the presentation and all of the kids sang along!
I made a funny bunch of flea finger puppets and we acted out the story about how each flea is an individual and how they learned to be friends with each other despite their differences! The final group project was then a 2 day felting event where each child made a colorful flea to go onto a wall hanging for the school to hang in their big auditorium! I loved working with all of the kids and helping moms too!

I have had a couple of goals regarding northeast Kansas dragonflies the past few years. I had species I wanted to find (always a list that is updated after a success) and also wanted to find any of the Spreadwing Damselfly species in Miami County.
After many unsuccessful trips to Miami County focusing on dragonflies, I finally found a spreadwing. While I was in waist high grass along the lake I stopped to see this lovely beetle as well.
