Inside a flea market tent. In case anyone was wondering the guns on display were non functioning antiques and for what this guy was asking I could go to a store and get a brand new rifle with a good scope and have some real fun at a range.

This photo captures a lively scene at a bustling flea market. A man with a distinctive style – sporting a beard, long hair pulled back, and a t-shirt with a graphic design – is intently looking through a monocular. He is surrounded by a crowd of people browsing through numerous stalls laden with diverse items. The atmosphere is vibrant and energetic, typical of a popular flea market.

weather's been terrible, but indoor wildlife can be equally dangerous.

Flea market finds. Spent a whopping $7 on them. Everything was $1 except for Charli who was $3 but she’s obviously worth it with all of her clothes. Draculaura was purchased for the purse. It’s such a good purse! Very happy with my finds!

Do you ever buy something on a whim, not because you need it but just because it suits your fancy? I have been known to indulge myself, but usually only when visiting charity shops or the flea market. My photo includes an example of each, resting on a chair I have been told belongs at the charity shop. It’s over 40 years old and I’m not parting with it just yet. The little glass pebbles were sitting on the “free” table at work where people put things they want to give away.

I think this collection qualifies for the daily challenge at “We’re Here!” -- “the wabi-sabi aesthetic”. The wabi-sabi aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete, and typically includes asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, etc.

Here's another photo from my morning at the flea market in Solana Beach today. This is an old garden chair that's been turned into a flower pot! Isn't it lovely! This is just one example of the whimsical goodies that you can stumble upon at this vintage-inspired flea market! I was in my element!

Went to a small flea market this weekend and found some doll scale kitchen minis and a cute Dale doll (Dawn's friend). All bargains from the same seller. Dale was $10 and the metal minis were $5.

The cookie cutters and the measuring cups are not doll scale, but still cute. I thought the cookie cutters could be used with American Girl dolls or just nice additions to my vintage cookie cutter collection. I have a bunch of larger animals and holiday shapes like these with the little handle.

Flea is the first little dog I ever brought into our family. I had big, robust dogs when I was younger. I was not a fan of small dogs. I saw little dogs as delicate, yappy, and entitled. Flea is all of that but she is also non-shedding, extremely loyal, and highly intelligent. Also, while a big dog could easily tear her to shreds, she is a lot more durable than I had originally considered small dogs could be; she hikes with me as well or better than any other dog I have had. I am extremely grateful that she is part of my life.

Title: “Sandy the Super Jumper”

In the soft, sun-baked sands of a Caribbean beach, there lived a tiny creature named Sandy. She wasn't much to look at — about the size of a grain of rice — but don’t let that fool you. Sandy was a sand flea, and she had a secret superpower.

She could jump.

Not just any jump. Sandy could leap over 100 times her body length in a single bound — the same as a human jumping over the length of a football field in one go! That made her one of the best jumpers in the animal kingdom.

“I bet even kangaroos would be jealous,” Sandy liked to say, puffing out her tiny chest.

But Sandy’s talents didn’t stop there. Unlike the itchy little pests people sometimes confuse her with (those are amphipods or sometimes biting midges, by the way!), Sandy was a crustacean — just like a crab or lobster, only way tinier. She didn’t bite humans or suck blood. Instead, she spent her days burrowing in the damp sand, munching on decaying seaweed and hiding from seagulls.

One day, disaster struck the beach. A massive tide had swept away piles of seaweed — Sandy’s lunch buffet!

“Oh no!” she gasped, peeking out from under a shell. “Where am I going to find food now?”

That’s when she decided to take a leap of faith — literally.

With a powerful spring from her back legs, Sandy soared through the salty air, scanning for another patch of seaweed. She landed with a soft plop near a dune, right next to a crab who blinked in surprise.

“Whoa,” said the crab. “How’d you do that?”

“High-powered legs and hydraulic pressure,” Sandy said proudly. “Our muscles store energy, and when we release it — bam! Instant launch.”

Together, Sandy and the crab found a new seaweed stash. As they munched happily, Sandy taught the crab a thing or two about stealth, spring-loading jumps, and how to avoid becoming seagull snacks.

And from that day on, Sandy the sand flea became a local legend — the superhero of the shore, proving that even the smallest creatures can have the mightiest moves.

Even though this beetle was tiny, it was hard to miss! Photographed in the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge, Wisconsin.

A shot from the time when the flea market was organised on the main square in Krakow. The friendly vendor agreed to take the photo - we understood each other without words :)
