I wrote a few lines for this photo about my impressions on this square this morning in Brussels - BE

Orphaned things

If you would stand on this square this Sunday morning

And if you would have closed your eyes,

And would have listened very carefully,

You could have heard the whisper of all these orphaned things.

All in households long ago, but now transformed to tumble weed,

Pushed by the gentle winds of time onto these tables and these cobblestones,

If all these things were transparent, they would each write a book about their life and

Vossenplein would be the biggest library of all things in the world.

But they are not: the murmur of these things sounds cloudy and opaque,

And if you look at them, you sometimes see their loneliness,

That vase that has been snatched from its familiar and beloved place,

That empty photo frame, these things they are so single, they seem jealous.

Jealous of that happy silver spoon and fork, still together after all those years,

In 12-fold!

With the whole family in their native velour box,

And when that box is closed,

They dream of endless Belgian dining parties,

When the world was young and innocent and

Animals and household things could laugh and talk

And write a book about their life.

Evidently a family activity!

9 lives were not enough. Miss you buddy.

I want to get outside for photos but it is -50 tonight; so no.

A shot from our weekend hike. I love the quality of light from the January sun on the rare occasions it shows itself.

A microgravity pirate.

Flea Frames are designed specifically to operate in microgravity arcologies. The synthetic legs absorb impacts and provide instantaneous acceleration. They are equipped with a thruster module which provides long-range movement.

I wanted these to feel predatory and yet alluring. I imagined them mid-air, their turreted upper body locked onto their target while the limbs reoriented to land elegantly.

Apparently considered a pest in the garden, this one was in the field, climbing up a pink primrose flower...

The photograph captures a vibrant scene at the Naschmarkt flea market in Vienna. Several people, a mix of adults and young adults, are intently examining a table laden with various antique and vintage items. The table displays a diverse collection of objects, including brassware, small picture frames, and other trinkets. The people are dressed in casual, contemporary clothing, suggesting a relaxed and leisurely atmosphere. The market is outdoors, with tents providing shade and creating a lively, colorful backdrop. The overall impression is one of a bustling and engaging urban marketplace.
