flea market action

Had a couple hours to explore along the bike trail today. Larger variety of insects to be experienced than last week - including my first tick of the year. I hold a special place in my heart for the Sumac Flea Beetle as it was my first county record in the Maryland Biodiversity Project a number of years ago.

simple for an early, early morning trip to the flea market.

There is a really nice lady who runs a clothing booth, but she wasn't there all day! I really wanted to buy a pair of shoes, but instead I took the opportunity to snap a photo in the most secluded corner I could find.

remixed vintage shirt: Cafe Society

vintage Levi's 517's: Bobby From Boston ... I have been looking for a pair of vintage jeans for years! I gave up, but when I was at Bobby's the last time, the girl working there had a really wonderful pair on. On a whim I grabbed a stack and actually found a pair that fit!!

belt and shoes: Goodwill

needlework bag: The Green Closet.. I think this is my last hurrah with this bag,.... I haven't used it in years, it's time for it to go off to a better home.. an etsy shop will be opened...soon (?)

Earlstown Market on a Saturday is a Flea Market - 99% rubbish if not more - but you never know.

There have been a couple flea markets this season that I've attended. These are some of my treasures.

There were lots of lovely vintage dolls, but I did not buy any. I've got so many to love already and nothing really popped out at me. I saw a pretty Tammy, a Miss Barbie, a titan swirl Barbie, a bunch of cute Dawns, several pretty Miss Revlons (17" or so big version), a couple cute Penny Brites, and some beautiful antique German dollhouse dolls. I sort of regret not buying the German dollhouse dolls because they were a good price, but they were still expensive. Most of the dolls were over priced, but oh so fun to see. So many pretty old baby dolls and China heads to enjoy and some lovely old dollhouses to enjoy seeing. A grand time.

Paddington - $1

Wooden dishes - $1

Green 1:12 table and chairs - $5

A few more to follow...

Found these doll treasures at a flea market last weekend. $15 for all of it. Always great to find 1:6 dollhouse scale items. The orange set is vintage Barbie - it will be repainted someday.

I'm not sure about the stove top - never saw that before.

Love the old fashioned looking coffee pot and butter churn. I think the coffee pot is Johnny West.

Coming home to this little one is always a double shot of happy for me.

Flea in the forest

I just discovered two things this morning. First, I don't have a photo uploaded for June 11. Second, I erased the photos I took on June 11. I gave myself a mental kick. Now I am contemplating whether or not I should give up the 365. If I go on it won't be pure with the missing photo. On the other hand, I had a couple more garden macros shot on that date that I took as I worked the yard. I planned to upload one of the marigold border I create next to the tomatoes and herbs. I am not making the decision now but will ruminate on it as I go about today's business.

Treasures from a few recent flea market days. It has been so good to get back to them! All were cancelled around here until about a month ago.

The biggest bargain was the Barbie/Ken clothing for $10. When the seller said that price, I got my money out as fast as a could!!

Introduced in 2012, the X-Pro1 was the first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera from Fujifilm. As with most "firsts," the X-Pro1 has developed a following, though the newer X-Pro2 promises to be even more popular. That said, I found an old X-Pro1 in a camera flea market. The seller didn't know anything about it except that it's being sold "as is," had only one discharged battery and no charger. He was asking a hundred bucks for it and I offered $75. He counter-offered meeting halfway.

I could have just walked away, since I had no way of knowing if it will turn out to be an expensive "brick" or paper weight. But the gambler in me won out. I took the risk and took the camera home. Shure nuff, it has a couple of problems. And then some. Foremost is the dreaded "lens error" that seem to plague most Fuji cameras. The manufacturer's site states that "it is the failure of the camera to communicate with the lens" and suggests that if, after several "remove lens, remove battery, reset to default" recommendations fail to resolve the issue, to send the camera back to the retailer (not to them, the manufacturer, mind you!) Hahaha!

Then, there's the "sticky" shutter that gets stuck to "closed" every now and then.

To get around the "camera/lens failure to communicate" issue, I mounted my legacy Pentax Super Takumar f1.4/50mm manual lens. No more "lens error" messages. :P

The sometimes-stuck, sometimes-not, shutter I was able to jolt back into sometimes-normal operations by several "bursts" in "continuous high" mode shutter actuations.

And I now have an X-Pro1 that works (almost) all the time. Hahaha!
