It was only a matter of time before I would make a chicken.

Image of parent's pattern sent to my wife in Vienna to pick up some additional pieces for them. No idea what the name of the pattern is. Update: my wife found the stuff from the photo. The pattern's name is Stockholm.

Lighting: 3 x Canon 580 EX II. Two on each side fired into nearly-white ceiling in group A.

One hand held and bounced into wall/ceiling right of the flatware in the image in group B.

Triggered by ST-E2 on-camera. Group B ratioed 1 stop brighter than group A.

Overall flash exposure compensation -2/3 stop.

Thought process: knock out the photo quickly (thus choice of ETTL) and get a plain picture without context (thus the black background).

I took a spoon from the Commons and did some stuff to it.

New flatware I picked up for our daily use - the girls love the pretty flower design on the handles.

I thrifted this amazing silverware chest a few months ago on Craigslist and I keep my knitting supplies in here, for the most part. There are three pull-out drawers, one with inlaid places to organize your flatware. In that one, I keep my nice needles, in the middle drawer my crappy metal needles and circulars, and the third drawer I keep my patterns, books and other oddments. In the space below I keep my separate bagged "projects-that-in-the-process-of-being-knitted." My knitting chest is so beautiful that it just sits out in the family room by the TV on display!

Simon’s faux wood flatware set of 20

With Christmas fast approaching I made these. A bottle-top Christmas cake; oaken flatware ; and bottled Morello cherries.

I was inspired by cherries in syrup that went for £34 on ebay, but I am no IGMA Fellow & mine did not attract the same level of interest. Although mine are more true to scale & more realistic.

The flatware - bowls, cups, saucers - are an experiment using acorn cups to simulate Denby Russet.

Over the course of the past year, I've noticed that our flatware is disappearing. In an attempt to isolate dates on which it went missing, I began photographing sets. This image is one of those images.
