From back when Kate broke out the good stuff once in a while. The china was her mother's. And the crystal and flatware were from a particularly important date in 1984.

Actual metal flatware wrapped in paper napkins is becoming quite rare in these days of Corona Virus. Just when you thought single use plastic utensils were on their way out along comes a pandemic to bring them back with a vengeance.

The Dinner Party, by Judy Chicago, an artistic installation to celebrate the achievements of 39 historical and mythical famous women in western civilization, Brooklyn Museum, New York City.

Totally inspired by Meredith Red's wonderful cutlery shot (see my favourites)...this is a little shot for a new set I'm working on

Taken and sent from my iPhone.

The back of the tines is where the decoration is, that's because of the way Europeans hold their forks compared to the way Americans do. To the left of the decoration the marks are from the bigorne or anvil that was used to back mark the piece when the hall marks were placed on the front of the fork. GoodWill totally missed out on this one.

We ran over to our local Kroger for ingredients for our dinner and a meal for tomorrow as well.

We picked up Boneless, skinless chicken thighs, Russet potatoes, jar of nacho cheese, Frozen broccoli, and sour cream. Also got ingredients for a Rigatoni and meatball dinner.

Silver Pickle Fork..

In July the weather was so bad; I decided it was time for a few cutlery shots. LOL so many object to photograph and yet I find silverware so fascinating.

I tried a few different lenses, but settled ont he 105 macro f2.8 with no ND filter. I staged several designs and configurations and finally came up with this shot.

I came up with the idea. to put them on the marble counter top near the edge, closed the shear curtains to diffuse the light, in an attempt to introduce as much grain as I could, even setting my shutter speed as low as the lens would allow.

In post I desaturated it to make it black and white and

then pulled the contrast and clarity sliders way down to soften the edges.

.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favorite and for the kind comments,

WIP - ENCHANTED FOREST - "Owed" to Surrealism... (stained glass, millefiore, ball chain, stainless steel flatware, on 1/2" MDF)

Finally got the nerve to quit playing with the mille and start working with it — so far I LOVE it! It is much easier than most of the other materials I end up working with. However, somehow I went from millefiore to Surrealism, which got me into some serious andamento considerations. I am looking for suggestions, ideas or thoughts on opus or andamento for the ground. I do also plan to add some small bunches of mille at the base of the tree trunks and axis' points. Because my composition elements are inspired from Surrealistic works, I want to accentuate the harlequin outlines, undulations, curves, hills and depressions and am just not sure of the best way to do it. Maybe Opus Sectile in carefully chosen shaded stained glass so that each section forms part of the checker board? Or Vermiculatum in concentric rings moving from exterior to interior? Incertum with shading? I've played around with various sketches and tess patterns, but none of them look quite right... Thanks!

My wife had her Mom over on Sunday and they ordered pizza from Jets Pizza. I reheated three squares in the oven. It's always a good choice for Sicilian-style pizza here in East Tennessee (Born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania aka NEPA where there's the Old Forge Sicilian and in The Back Mountain, Pizza Perfect legacies).

For Utata's Picture This #1, in which our heroes must interpret the phrase

ā€œThe Powerful Magnet of Your Charmsā€.

I made quite a racket shooting this.

I’ve used cloth napkins EXCLUSIVELY for several years. So doing has SAVED a significant amount of money! Same thing with paper towels. I don’t use them either. Instead, I use kitchen towels. Even MORE savings! Still trying to figure out what to do about the toilet paper, however.šŸ¤”šŸ˜œšŸ˜³šŸ˜‚

Oh… and just in the case you’re wondering ā€What’s in it?ā€

Went out to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. My wife got coffee and I got Hot tea. She got the Momma's Breakfast and I got the Country Boy Breakfast.

She shared some of her pancakes with me and I brought a slice of Country ham and my Biscuits & Gravy home for leftovers.

For Tuesday March 11, 2025.

The quintessential hand tools for eating.

One AB800 w/BD over camera to light subject with a another AB800 to light the BG. Triggered with sync cable.

One Yongnuo 565 EX camera left bounced into white wall behind subject.

After returning from my visit to UT Gardens, I made myself some lunch. We had leftover Baked potatoes. So I got out the toppings (melty queso cheese, sour cream, bacon bits and jalapeƱos ) for a loaded baked potato and had that!

Melding a fork from my all-time favourite cutlery set (its hammered stainless steel from the Martha Steward line of flatware) with an adorable teeny-tiny Re-Ment (miniature) strawberry shortcake to create something that appeals to both dolls and humans alike :)
