“You’re always with yourself, so you might as well enjoy the company.” —Diane Von Furstenberg

These Blythe dolls are my Candy Carnival twins, wearing their stock dresses. As you can see, one came out of the box with shorter bangs than the other one did. The background is a jigsaw puzzle. It was rather difficult, but I’m glad I stuck with it and finished it, because it looks great!

Thank you in advance for your views, comments, and faves. They are much appreciated!

As I wandered through the village one day, my attention was drawn to the sight of a Harley Davidson motorcycle stationed proudly in front of the town hall. What made this bike stand out was its captivating paint job—a rich, deep burgundy bordering on black, accentuated by a meandering brilliant orange pinstripe. Enthralled by this striking display, I embarked on a personal project in my workshop: creating a fountain pen that captured the essence of this unique design.

Beginning the endeavour in early December, I poured my creative energy into shaping what would become known as "The Harley Pen," a homage to the motorcycle that sparked the inspiration. Having completed the project this past week, there was still one final step. Similar to pairing a fine meal with the perfect wine, I sought out the ideal ink to complement my creation. With confidence in their selection, I turned to The Mailroom in Fort Langley. They always seem to have just what I need.

The Mailroom delivered once again. Today, "The Harley Pen" proudly bears the vibrant hue of Sunrise Orange ink, a testament to the beautiful pinstripe on that Harley. Now with ink flowing smoothly, this pen is poised to leave its mark on the world.

Crazy Tuesday: Negative Space

November 10 is National Vanilla Cupcake Day! So get out and buy some or bake some to celebrate!

More info from nationaldaycalendar.com:

NATIONAL VANILLA CUPCAKE DAY

National Vanilla Cupcake Day is observed annually on November 10. This is a day for dessert lovers across the country to celebrate and indulge.

Cupcakes have also been known to be called:

•Fairy Cakes

•Patty Cakes

•Cup Cakes (different from Cupcakes (one-word)

Cupcakes can be traced back to 1796 when a recipe notation for a cake to be baked in small cups was written in American Cookery (by Amelia Simmons). The earliest known documentation of the term cupcake was in 1828 in Seventy-five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes, and Sweetmeats in Eliza Leslie’s Receipts cookbook.

Cupcakes were originally baked in heavy pottery cups. Today, some bakers still use individual ramekins, small coffee mugs, larger teacups, or other small ovenproof pottery-type dishes for baking their cupcakes.

HOW TO OBSERVE

To celebrate National Vanilla Cupcake Day, share some cupcakes with your friends and family and watch an episode of the Food Network reality-based competition show, Cupcake Wars. Enjoy one of the following vanilla cupcake recipes.

Raspberry Filled Vanilla Cupcakes
